I HAVE BOUGHT A SET OF TIRES FOR THIS CAR EVERY 20000 TO 25000 FOR THE PAST 3 YRS. I HAVE CHANGED BOTH CV AXLES, WHEEL BEARINGS, LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARMS ON BOTH SIDES, SHOCKS STRUTS, RACK AND PINON, POWER STEERING PUMP, AND HOSE TO POWER STEERING. NOT TO MENTION WHEN I WENT TO THE THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO FIX MY CV AXLES THAT WERE UNDER WARRANTY, THEY PACKED THEM FULL OF GREASE AND SAID THEY CHANGED THEM. MY CAR WAS AT 98000 MILES. NEED LESS TO SAY THOSE AXLES WENT TO SH*T AND BROKE THE BEARING HOUSING TO THE TRANSMISSION AND BEARING WERE FLYING AROUND IN MY TRANS AND HAD TO REPLACE THAT TOO...

CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ON IT AND SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS OUT CAUSE I HIT THE 100000 MARK THEY BASIC SENT ME AWAY. WITH NO LUBE I TOOK THAT ONE IN THE ASS. THANK YOU HONDA FOR THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SH*T I HAVE EVER OWNED OR FOR OFFERING YOUR BACK DOOR MECHANICS THAT MADE MY CAR THE WAY IT IS NOW

After buying FOUR pairs of tires for the rear of my car by the time I had 47,000 miles on it - and being told by Honda I didn't know what I was talking about when I made the complaint with each pair... Honda did replace the upper control arms for me...and even bought me now tires! BUT NOW... I have 160,000 miles on the car and the nightmare has RETURNED! And just like the first time... no one can find anything wrong with my car! I will NEVER buy another Honda... this is a nightmare. I purchased Honda for their reputation.... guess that is gone now!

Premature wear on the inside of the rear tires. It first started out just wearing slightly more than the rest of the tire, causing a jagged wear in the tread that caused road noise and vibration. It gets worse with every new set of tires and now it wears out the inside while the outside of the tire (tread) still looks fairly new. I was first told I had too much weight on the back end from what I was carrying in the trunk. Then I was told by a mechanic that it was a problem that Honda was recalling and they would fix it. I had a recall notice sent to me and forgot what it was about so I assumed that when I found the card, I could get it fixed. Again, at this time, it wasn't as big of a problem as it is now. When I found the recall card and realized it wasn't for the problem but for something else (accelerator pedal), I mentioned to Honda that I was having this problem. They didn't give me a solution when I had it in to get some work done and two new tires put on. Meanwhile I feel like I was also getting an alignment every time I had it in for tires, this was also a result of the primary problem. Just had it in today and now Honda is saying that it was a warranty issue and not a recall. They didn't bother to tell me this when I complained about it several times over the last few years and now they want me to pay out of pocket for parts and labor, not to mention, buying new tires and another alignment (just had an alignment about 6 months ago). I am frustrated and wondering how Honda can get away with this!

I do not understand why dealerships are allowed to sale a car knowing these unsafe conditions ! ? We will NEVER BUY A HONDA as long as we live again ! ! The engine runs great, The car is a piece of crap ! ! The car shakes at all speeds, If you drive over 74 MPH the key start shaking and hitting the colum. THE CAR EATS TIRES like a drift car. HONDA HAS RUINED THEIR REPUTATION ! !

this is going to be the 3rd time I change my tires in 2years. it always wears out before 7months, even if I get good expensive tries, I took it to 3 places, one place told me it was the alignment, so I did it n it happened again, I took to Honda and they told me it was the control arm. what a mission. hopefully Honda recalls this because I know a lot of other cases with my same problem. My tires r so bad right now I cant drive my nice 2006 civic and don't got money to fix for a while. so ill be taking the bus to work. I already wasted at lease $1,000 on tires/alignments in 3years. I finally found out is a control arm problem when I took it to Honda but they didn't help much or reduced the price or replacing it.

All proper tire maintenance has been done since purchased date. 4 set of tires have been installed on the rear with no improvement on problem. Tires cupping on the outside and wearing creating very loud noise on rear tires only. Of course by rotating tires you only move the noisy tires to the front which result in bad tires on all four corners.

Rear tires: 2 - Sets of original 2 - Sets of BFGoodrich 2 - Sets of Cooper

By 2 sets I mean rotating the front to the rear and still having the same issue.

This was when I noticed that my rear tires were wearing awfully quickly. I'm sure that I have had the problem for A LOT longer, I was just "responsible" and replaced my tires when they were supposedly done. It wasn't until tires got so badly cupped, that it shook my car to the point of locking my seat belt intermittently while driving, that I started to be more aware that something was wrong. I don't know about you, but I don't like being choked while driving...or any time at that matter. I replaced my tires AGAIN from this point just thinking it was my highway miles doing a number on my car, then religiously rotated my tires EVERY 5,000 miles...until my tires hit about 20,000 then they started refusing to rotate the tires due to the uneven wear and because of the DRIVING HAZARD it would cause. Now at 30,000 miles, the inside of my tires are completely bald while I still have more than half of my tread on the outside of the tires. According to TBS 08-001 (http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/joelamanna/2008-01-24_191740_tire_wear_sb.pdf) there is a fix; HOWEVER, since the car is not under "warranty" anymore and this is not a "recall" then I had to fork out the bucks to save myself from an untimely blowout plus ANOTHER set of tires. Are you frigging kidding me?!!! I'm expecting my first child and definitely looking for another car because obviously honda doesn't care enough about their consumers to pay for their factory mistakes. I'm not risking my child's life on a surprise blowout because I still see tread on my tires. From the dealer: $525 included my repair kit, labor, taxes, and an alignment NOT including 4 new tires. Purchased this 16 months ago from a relative with only 25K on it. They always had it at the dealer for all routine maintenance. Tires were rotated every 5K, but there was not a lot left when we got the car. This seemed strange to me, but I figured that the stock Good Years must have been low quality. The dealers must have not been alerted to the TSB, as it was never addressed. (Should it have not flagged?) At 38K, the noise from the rear end was unreal. Brought it to my local shop, and found out that the rear passenger tire was complete junk. 4 new tires, complete alignment and 10K more miles, the car is again LOUD and same rear tire is junk. Called HOA and they said to bring it to the dealer for an estimate. Dealer said that yes, control arms are the defective version and that it would cost $450 to replace the control arms and align. Called HOA and they said that as a "good will" statement, they will take $200 off of the estimate. Meaning that it would only cost me just $250 for the control arm replacement and an alignment. And that I would have to pay for the tires out of pocket.(Another $275) Argued that it was a design problem and that they should take more than just $200 off. Mentioned the TSB, and they said that a TSB is not a recall and that they are not required to give me anything since I am over the warranty. I replied back with "then why offer me a $200 savings?". Honda knows they have a major issue with this, but refuse to admit it. This is a major safety concern in my opinion and should be a recall. They would not budge and I refused the offer as it will be cheaper for my local garage to fix and I would rather give him the business than Honda. I will join the class action lawsuit and hope for the best. What happened to Honda's? At one point, they were a great car company. Not so much anymore and this will be the last Honda that I purchase.

I bought my 2006 Honda Civic brand new and drove it off the lot. Of course the first set of tires didn't last more than about 20,000 miles or so so I purchased a new set at 26,000. After about 10,000 miles, I noticed a thumping noise coming from the rear. I had the tires balanced and noticed the inner tread had worn prematurely but primarily on the Right Passenger. Thinking this might be a faulty tire, I decided to live with the thumping until I could purchase a new set. This time I opted for high dollar Michelins thinking this might solve my problem and I purchased this set at about 76k. Sure enough, that same familiar thumping returned about 15k miles afterward and I had my tires looked at and balanced again. Too much of a coincidence for me not to look into, so I got online and did some research. Sure enough, TSB 08-001 came up immediately. I called the dealership and made an appointment to have it diagnosed at my own cost. They claimed my car was out of warranty and I would need to pay for the repairs myself. I called AOH to file a complaint since this is a known issue and the refused to cover any of the work since my vehicle is out of the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Since the tire issue was impossible to diagnose until the car started to make the noise, I fail to understand why Honda will not fix this issue at no cost to the consumer. This is my third Honda Civic and I have always been pleased with the product until now. I am angered that Honda refuses to fix this issue and that I have to pay out of pocket for their design flaw especially when there is a known fix for the problem. As I told AOH, I WILL NOT buy another Honda after this treatment.

Our local dealer has estimated $500 plus dollars to repair (for an alignment which is normally about $70...). They will not know for sure until they start repairs.They have indicated they are unable to do anything more for us unless we contact Honda.

Meanwhile the brand new set of tires I put on a year or so ago are not wearing correctly. The car also sounds like a truck on the highway.

This was not our first Honda - in the past I've had nothing but good to say about them. At the time we purchased this I think it was "car of the year". I know there are worse things that can go wrong with a car, but this was a disappointment with Honda.

The problem started after 22000 miles. Since Honda replaced my first set of tires I have had to put on 8 pairs of tires in 6 years. That's around 1600 dollars. I asked my dealer repeatedly if there was anything they could do to fix it and for years they told me no. Come to find out, 4 years after dealerships were told, they do have a kit to fix the problem!!!!! So I go to another dealership to get the kit and they tell me they can't cover the cost of it because I have too many miles on my car?? Then after they put the kit on, they tell me that the updated ones are too short and they can't align it, so they have to order after market control arms to fix the problem This is going to cost me another 500 dollars to fix (and after reading others, not sure if that will work). There is no doubt in my mind that they knew about this problem. You can look at the car and see the wheels are slanted. My 4 year old can see it. The way they try to walk around the issues at dealerships makes me certain they know, knew whatever they should cover all the costs to fix it. Never buying another Honda for sure!!!
