Okay...2006 Honda Civic SI 102k miles, great condition and always serviced. My oil light has been appearing a few thousand miles into each oil change, and when I check my oil, I have none on dipstick. I don't use Honda for Maintenance, as they are expensive. I take my Civic to Firestone. Firestone said that my oil pump is fine, and there are no leaks or any signs of oil underneath my car. They gave me a full oil change, and even replaced the oil plug and seal. Here I am again now at 30% oil life, and my light came on again. Firestone said to me when I was last there that if this happens again, they can't help.....Now I'm reading on this site that some HOndas are overconsuming their oil, and the owners are having the same problems....Can you help me? I'm a woman, and I can't afford to have mega problems with my HOnda that I purchased originally for reliability.
Purchased 2006 Honda Civic for reliability and longevity. At about 216,000, took in for emission test and oil change. Casually told, low on oil, start checking it. At 40% oil life, starting making rattling sound in engine. Checked oil - added 3 litres. I agree the dip stick sucks. Took to reliable mechanic, cleaned up engine area, no visible leakes, no overheating. Oil vanishing. Tried oil additive, still making noise. Suggested a rebuild &^%#&%&# Ok now I am angry 3-5K for what reason? Now I am reading about porous engines, crack engines and recalls but not via Honda. Any suggestions, where to begin?

In 2009 I started to add 1 quart of oil every 1,000. Honda said it is within spec. Do you think it has gotten better?
