I noticed the coolant temperature didn't get up to its normal level for a few days. It usually is at the halfway level, but it only got up to about 1/3 even after running for an extended period of time. The check engine light turned on, so I had the code read. P0128 was the code which said "coolant thermostat below temp". Took it to my mechanic and he told me sensors needed to be changed because they were outside of their percentage of allowance (I can't remember the term he used). He will be replacing the thermostat too just because it's the stock thermostat, and he thinks it should be replaced because of how old it is.
My Civic's engine light came on Jan 15th 2012, and had my engine checked to find out that it was the coolant temperature sensors that had to be replaced.
It cost me $550.(from Meineke)
My car's rear upper control arms failed before and cost me $1400 after deductin Honda's goodwill compensation.
I am not going to buy any Honda cars any more: too much trouble for a supposedly reliable car.
