2006 Honda Civic LX. Consumer writes in regard to Honda airbag inflator safety recall notice. The consumer stated the dealer and manufacturer refused to honor the air bag recall repair also, the air conditioner would blow hot air.

The air conditioner in my recently purchased 2006 Honda Civic was not cooling properly. Upon taking it in, it was discovered the condenser had a hole which, according to the dealer, was most likely caused by a rock/road debris. I have had my '06 Honda Civic in 3 times for the air conditioner. They are saying that a pebble hit the condenser causing a leak. They say that this is caused by road debris, so they will not cover it under warranty. They charge $600 to fix this problem. I did some research and found hundreds of these cases with Honda vehicles. This is a design flaw since the condenser is not properly protected against debris like it should be. This is going to continue to happen over and over again unless Honda has a recall to fix the problem.

When I took my 2006 Honda Civic LX in for A/C repair to the Honda dealer, they told me it was apparently hit by a rock that put a hole in the condenser, causing the freon to leak out. This isn't covered under warranty, and will cost me over $500. They told me to file a claim with my insurance company. I have seen on the internet that this is happening to a lot of people with several different models of Honda. Honda should come forward and do a recall due to poor manufacturing of the A/C compressor. If this very same thing is happening to that many Honda customers, the part is defective.

Vehicle ac ceased working after approximately 9,000 miles. Vehicle was brought to the dealership were purchased where it was diagnosed that a rock has made a hole in the ac condenser. Both dealer and manufacturer acknowledged this was not an isolated incident but insisted that "road hazard" (eg: Rocks on the road) caused the component to fail.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic which I had purchase in October 20 06, which I' had only for 8 months. I get in my vehicle to turn the air condition on, and on June 6, 2008 and found out that it only blew out hot air. I am very upset knowing that a vehicle which was not even a year old and because of some so call pebble that get up in the condenser which made it unable to function and on top of that for Honda to be number one for good value with there cars. Weren't his was an on going occuring problem with these Civic why aren' they considered as a recall, because so many peopl had thiis problem and had to pay out of there pocket whichwas not their fault.

The 2006 Civic air conditioner (A/C) stopped workingat only 16,000 miles. The dealer stated that the A/C condenser was punctured by road debris and that it was my responsibilty to pay the $575 for the repair. Honda America avoided the issue, and stated the same. After reviewing internet forums it appeared that this was a major design flaw that the A/C condenser unit was not protected and was vulnerable to damage easily. I wasvery upset that Honda had not acted with good business practices, and wastrying to avoid the matter.

Honda common sense failure. Honda places their air conditioner (A/C) condenser at the front of the vehicle with no protection, ie a screen to deflect pebbles, resulting in an easy target for pebbles to puncture the fragile condenser tube. This is obviously a widespread issue that Honda is refusing to deal with. The service representative said that in his three years working for Honda, he personally has dealt with about 100 of these failures. However. He did not see this as a problem and likened the failure to a chipped windshield. Keep in mind that this is at a single dealership, with a single representative among several. During common, everyday, freeway driving, $657 damage should not be considered in the same category as a chipped windshield. The windshield is a protective device, and therefore deflecting pebbles and other road hazards is expected. I don't think the A/C condenser should fall under the same category as my former Honda dealer has implied. Nothing has been done to remedy this situation except to be recommended to make it an insurance claim or pay the $657 out of pocket. A $657 repair may be expected when buying a used vehicle, but when this sort of damage is sustained during everyday driving within the 1st year of purchasing a new vehicle and is not the result of negligence by the driver, it should absolutely not be tolerated. I own a 2006 Honda Civic and last fall my ac stopped working. I took it to the dealer from which I purchased the vehicle and was told a pebble had gone through the open grill and damaged the condenser. They showed me the damage which is almost not noticeable. Very light and certainly shouldn't be enough to cause the ac to stop working. This is poor design. There are numerous complaints on various websites about this problem. And, it seems, it is not confined to just the Civic but with several Honda vehicles. The dealer refused to cover under warranty and told me to go to my insurance company. Hogwash. I'm not going to pay a high deductible or the $700 repair bill. I am going to fight Honda on this one, and I hope other Honda owners will step up to the plate.
