This was a headlight dropping problem. It seemed to be tied to movement, i.e. shifting car's weight forward when braking or shifting down, braking when going downhill. Was annoying and momentary until it failed completely. Took it to the dealer (recall notice), and didn't fix it(it was still intermittent). Second trip seems to have solved it (it was completely failed).
