CarComplaints.com Notes: Yes, the Honda Civic receives a lot of complaints because so many were sold. And sure, car parts only last so long and things eventually break. But it's never good to see this many transmission complaints, especially when the average mileage at failure is just north of 100,000 miles.
Especially when you consider that it's predecessor also has a nasty history with transmission complaints.

This is the fourth time I've had to have Clutch work done on this car. I've always followed the recommended maintenance with the dealer so car has NOT been neglected. Yet, in the nearly 8 years I've owned it, the master/slave cylinder had to be replaced, 1 and 2nd gear set had to be replaced, clutch disc and pressure plate had to be replaced, and now master and slave cylinders again. I have spent over $5000 on keeping this clutch working in this car, so I am definitely getting rid of it.
