This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I purchased 4 new nankang ex-500 tires for my 1995 Honda Civic ex in October 2005. They seemed to be in near perfect condition up until the incident. No balding or wearing was visible. On 2-12-06 while traveling on the freeway at approx. 75 mph, the sidewall on the right front tire completely separated from the tire without warning and very abruptly, forcing me into the lane to my right and narrowly missing a collision with a vehicle in that lane. I was able to get over to the shoulder to change the tire for a spare. I obviously had to replace the tire, and in addition, I will need to adjust my alignment as it was seriously compromised as a result of this incident.
