The car died in a closed insulated garage and was later towed to the local dealer. They told me the battery had frozen and that it had taken all day to thaw. It was 23 degrees F that night, but this is mild weather for Montana, and I was sold this car by a Montana dealership. I called other dealerships and I was told that this is a common issue for the 2020 CR-V Hybrid, but that other Honda hybrid cars didn't have any issues currently with the cold. The dealer told me the car was fine and that the issues were all my fault for not driving it enough.
I had a 2006 Subaru for almost 11 years and it did just fine in the same garage and under considerably more harsh conditions, including a low of -25 F. This is not normal behavior for a car, to have a battery freeze. When it does freeze, you cannot move it. There's no way to shift it into neutral or take the emergency brake off.
Extremely disappointed.
