My vehicle was parked in my driveway at the time this occurred. There was a mower going but nowhere near my vehicle and there was no indication that anything was thrown at or near any of the other 4 vehicles that were also parked on the same driveway and area. Because that was our first thought. It was July as well. But temperatures should not have any affect on a vehicle windshield that way if made properly. Now, my back frame has shifted, we have noticed - I do not know if that is a known thing or not. I don’t even know if it is a cause for the rear windshield to bust the way it did or not. But it is a problem. And a known one you can find all over the internet. Honda has a settlement but no recalls and its BS.
Our vehicle was parked under a carport while we were out of town for 2 weeks. When we returned there was a crack. There is no sign of something having fallen on the windshield. It's extremely upsetting because the car was just parked.
We were gone out for holidays came back to see a crack on the windshield running from frame to a ways in. Reached out to Honda and let them know of the crack and told them that they didn't see to be an external inflection point on the windshield...just a crack running through.
Offered to drive in so they could investigate and cover it if it was not user caused.
Dealership responded that they don't deal with windshield damage, no matter the circumstance. They said that I needed to reach out to a business called "Windshield City" and that perhaps my insurance would cover the cost!
Update from Feb 4, 2020: Also extremely interesting is that there is a class action lawsuit going on for CRVs having the exact same problem:

Crack appeared without any impact, it started from the bottom of the window at centre of the steering wheel.
This is annoying and I don't want to deal with it.
I'm glad that car complaints has registered this topic which helped to explain the mystery.
