1:42 pm, driving at 40 mph and no vehicles in front of me but one was passing on my left, when all of a sudden the vehicle braked hard and the warning words BRAKE showed up on the dash. I'm lucky no one rear ended me since there was absolutely no reason for me to be braking.

CR-V Touring

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,548 miles

April 2019 purchased NEW 2019 Honda CRV currently has only 6548 miles on it.

Sunday Oct 20 at 1:40 PM the CMBS activated itself and slammed on the brakes going from 40 mph down to approx. 2-3 mph. It was a bright sunny day, on a perfect road way with no traffic in front of me at all for as far as I could see.

Took it to dealer who said they’d never heard of this before yet there is a class action lawsuit for this same issue. They tested everything and couldn’t find anything wrong. They showed me how to turn off this safety feature which of course defeats the purpose. I bought this car because of these safety features. Service Director said he would have Honda Regional call me but they haven't yet.

Now every time I turn the car on I’m required to remember to turn this system off, because it resets every time you turn the car off.

Extremely dangerous and a big reason for purchasing this car was the safety features. It needs to be fixed immediately.

CR-V

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,700 miles

A brand new 2019 Honda CRV AWD with only 4800 miles should not brake without asking my permission. It's at Honda dealer now being looked at, but to be honest, even if they say it's fixed I am going to be afraid to drive it. I can't imagine driving at 75 miles an hour when cars slam into me.

Update from Nov 17, 2021: I LOVE MY CRV!!!

The brake sensor in the front end was facing to the left, so it would sense that I would hit a parked car.

Issue fixed by Honda.

CR-V EX 1.5L T

  • CVT transmission
  • 45,000 miles

I purchased a Honda CRV from Hagerstown Honda on 3/16/2019. I love my CRV. This is my second Honda I purchased from your dealership. However, I’ve been having serious problems with my car. The Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System is causing my car to just stop while driving, going 70 miles an hour or more, down to zero without warning. This has happened to me about 5 times now.

I have had my car back to the dealership to see if Hagerstown Honda can fix the problem. I have meet with Bob Barnes (Service Manager) and we talked several times about the issue, the technician (Nick Shifler) readjusted the radar, and we completed the Honda Sensing Interview sheet that was sent into Honda USA. It happened again just last week, where I caused a three-car accident on east bound Route 66. I was the only one that was injured in the accident as far as I know right now, however the other drivers had significant car damage.

This car is not safe. Someone is going to get killed. The VA state trooper at the scene of the accident told me not to drive the car because it was unsafe, and I agree. I contacted Bob Barnes again last week, and he said he can’t help me because they couldn’t reproduce the problem and to contact Honda USA. Right now, I cannot drive my car, yet I still have to pay for it. I’m a registered nurse and I need a reliable car that’s not going to kill me, so I can get into work safety and treat/care for COVID patients.

Thank you for your time and consideration, Patty

Have you experienced any issues with the parking brake? 3x I’ve had this brake engage on its own. It wouldn’t disengage, this left me in a very vulnerable situation. After many tries to shut off, move forward and reverse..with no results, I shut the vehicle off and restarted. This worked. Service says they can’t duplicate this situation, they consider the case closed.

Love to hear if anyone else is experiencing similar situations.
