Remote start on EX-L in cold weather activates the front defroster fan on highest setting. The AC compressor is used along with all seat heater, rear window and mirror defrosters. If the car is left outside overnight in -20F or less the parts are cold and brittle and will eventually break. The AC compressor should not be used at all at these temperatures. There is no way to turn off this "preconditioning feature" in either hot or cold weather.
