CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

Purchased brand new Honda 2018 and it came with Hankook 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 BW At 30,000 miles all 4 tires need to be replaced. Honda manufacturer and dealer confirmed that this is a known issue. I contacted Hankook manufacturer and was told that although the 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 have a 70,000 mile warranty, the 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 tires that come with the new car are designed to only last 30,000 miles out of the usual 70,000. Hankook deliberately engineered their tires to fail at 30,000 putting my life and the life of my family in danger in order to generate a profit. When purchasing my new car I was under the impression (based on the Hankook manufacturer's website) that my new tires would be covered by the 70,000 mile warranty and would thus last more than just 30,000. All my other new cars, the tires lasted well over the warranty that they initially came with. This is the first time that I have ever experienced this. This clearly has nothing do to with my driving pattern, considering that the manufacturer CONFIRMED that they engineer new car tires to FAIL at 30,000 miles.

The tire was purchased 3/18 and with less than 50 miles on the tire the sidewall failed and blew out at 70 mph. Tire was less than a day old and no object was hit to cause the failure.

  • 18,000 miles
My car skidded and failed to stop in acceptable distance/time in one inch of snow nearly causing me to collide with pedestrian in roadway. I was alarmed that this had happened and asked my mechanic to evaluate any braking defects. I was informed my tires were worn to 4/32nd and thus had little tread left to grip road surface. Mechanic noted all alignments and rotations were timely performed by owner of vehicle. I was shocked because vehicle is a 2018 Honda CRV with 18000 miles. These tires are rated for 50000 miles or 6 years. You can image my shock that tires wore out so fast and driving vehicle in security is now questionable. Tier manufacturer hankook is denying tire defectiveness even though Honda dealership has proved hankook liable as no vehicle defect is discovered. I ask your organization to examine this tire for faulty manufacture and notify consumers that tire is unreliable.
