CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working. Read more »
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.
Less than six weeks ago (February 18th-ish), the dealership performed the recall work on the fuel pump.
Sunday March 16th, the warning lights went crazy, so I took it right in Monday March 17th & they told me the fuel injectors were failing.
When I asked if it could possibly be related to the recall work on the fuel pump, I was told, "No. They're different systems." by my service rep.
Um, they're both part of the FUEL system and it seems awfully coincidental all of a sudden after they worked on the fuel pump recall, the injectors have failed.
Has anyone else experienced this after the recall work?
I'm definitely going to be delving more deeply into this, given the outrageous cost of the repair!
I only have 70k miles on my Honda CRV, have an extended warranty, but this isn't covered. I had to pay the full price out of my pocket. My Honda repair shop say they have seen this same problem on several 2017 and 2019 Honda CRVs. It should be a condition that has a Honda warranty extension since it is a chronic/faulty issue. I have owned Hondas since 1990 and have never had this sort of problem ever. It makes me want to get rid of this car.
All systems warning occurred 3 times, brought it in for service. All Systems diagnostic scan done showed the fuel system was too rich. All 4 injectors were replaced for free under warrenty.
Car starting throwing all error codes at once a month ago. No issues driving, took to mechanic, couldn't find any issues. Did this 3 times in a month. My mechanic advised to see Honda dealer for possible computer system update. Paid $147 for screening and Honda said it needs all fuel injectors and fuel joint pipe replaced. This is a 2018 with 40,000 miles. I found that it is a known issue with Honda but they want me to pay $2000 to correct.
