CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while pulling into a parking space and depressing on the brake pedal, she heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle began to vibrate. The contact stated an unknown green brake hold warning light was illuminated and then turned off a second later. The contact stated she was able to park the vehicle. The contact stated that a week later while starting the vehicle, she experienced the same failure. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where she was informed that the engine was overfilled by one quart of oil. The contact was informed that the extra oil needed to be drained. The repairs were completed. The contact stated on 2/9/2022, she started to smell fuel fumes inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer and was informed there was no leak and no failure found with the vehicle. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
Engine oil diluted. 2/8/2022 Engine oil was Diluted by 55mm. This happened within 400 miles of the last oil change. That's a lot of gasoline in the oil and oil viscosity is significantly decreased. All updates/recalls have been completed on the vehicle. The updates that are specific to this issue have been completed. Talking to Honda dealership, this is extremely unnormal and results in premature engine wear.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle several unknown warning lights would remain illuminated, including the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact also indicated that fuel had mixed into the engine oil causing a heavy fuel odor to be present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a computer re-flash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
Vehicle stalled when accelerating to overtake another vehicle. No errors/warnings, displays were working but speed suddenly dropped and does not increase no matter what. It was scary. Luckily I was able to come back to a shoulder lane and stop the vehicle. Vehicle ran normally after powering off and starting again. I've been driving the vehicle for couple of hours on freeway by then. This happened 4 times over the summer. Dealers are asking for $200 to diagnose but not promising that they will be able to find the problem since the issue does not happen consistently. I suspect it is due to oil dilution problem for which Honda performed repair last year.

Car suddenly lost power and dash lights came on while I was passing a large truck, legally, on rural highway. Was unable to pass truck and had to fall back and thankfully no vehicles were coming in opposite direction. Was a pass with caution area with dotted line. Had to have towed to dealership, found to be issue with turbo. Research shows know issue with vehicle, see NHTSA service bulletin 19-032, but Honda states does not involve my VIN number, though exact issue, model, and year. I think this issue should be expand to include all vehicles of same make, model and year.
Grinding noises were heard in the car twice, before the engine stalled. The car was stopped in the middle of the intersection. Could not restart the car at all, and check engine lights were lit on the dashboard. After 5 minutes passed and after multiple tries to restart the car, the engine started and I was able to get to safety. Upon dealer inspection, the cause was the air condition compressor locking up, possibly due to a leak in the refrigerant. This is confirmed by the car blowing hot air even in AC mode. The lock up caused the engine to stall and go into fail safe mode. This meant the car was stopped and unable to restart in the middle of a busy intersection. Because the car's engine was stopped, it was not possible to get the car moving again. It was incredibly dangerous for me and my passengers, as well as other cars on the road. Even when the lights changed, I was still stuck. There were cars driving around my car, causing more potential traffic incidents. The engine was not able to be immediately restarted, which put multiple cars in traffic in danger for longer than necessary. The car is being serviced by Roush Honda (100 W Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081). Prior to the failure, there were no warning signs and no other issues. This was a sudden and completely unexpected engine stall due to the AC Compressor Failure. This issue is common among CRV (2017 to 2020). https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t72370_ds1082603. There is also another NTSHA notice on this car related to the AC Compressor Leak. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10189868-0001.pdf Please recall this car. This issue puts everyone in an incredibly dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway and waited for a few minutes before attempting to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle was jump started and the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed to disconnect and reconnect the battery for the vehicle to resume normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
I was driving and then the car wouldn't go, seems like a fuel pump issue. There is a recall on fuel pumps for this year but according to Honda and this site mine is not effected. I disagree.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 mph, going uphill the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that they were not aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,700.

While driving on the highway the service engine soon light started blinking and the engine lost power effecting my ability to keep up with traffic. After coming to a stop the light stopped. When I started the engine back up there was a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I checked the oil level and it was at least 1/2 inch above full and smelled strongly of gas.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE SAN MATEO BRIDGE, CAR BEGAN HESITATING AND JERKING UP AND DOWN AND LOST POWER ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP. TOOK IT TO PEP BOYS THEY DIAGNOSED IT AND SAID IT NEEDED COILS AND SPARK PLUGS, ABOUT $ 1000 LATER TOOK THE CAR HOME AND CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING, TOOK IT BACK TO PEP BOYS AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT CAR FOR THAT PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO PRIMO HONDA AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VIN # EVEN THOUGH IS CLEAR THAT IS THE REASON THEY ARE HAVING A RECALL ON THOSE CARS FOR THAT VERY SAME REASON.VIN:[XXX]YEAR:2018MAKE:HONDAMODEL:CR-VLAST UPDATED:MAY 11, 2021NUMBER OF OPEN RECALLS:0......YEAR:2018MAKE:HONDAMODEL:CR-VLAST UPDATED:MAY 11, 2021NUMBER OF OPEN RECALLS:1 OPEN/CLOSE ALLPRINT 2018-19 CR-V FUEL PUMP MOTOR SAFETY RECALL EXPANSION TOOK IT TO ANOTHER BETTER QUALIFIED MECHANIC AND HE SAYS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP. I purchased my 2018 Honda CR-V ex 2wd in Florida April 2018. I have approximately 15,000 miles on it now. I travel through Indiana and Ohio during the year, including winter months. I have smelled gasoline fumes in the car and have smelled gasoline in the oil especially in winter months when I am traveling North. I called Honda Corp about the oil dilution problem and the tsb 18-114 and tsb 18-124 that were addressed to fix the problem. They told me that it only covers northern states. I explained that I travel through northern states during the year and have experienced gasoline fumes in the cabin and also in the oil. They told me to take it in to a dealer when I am in Indiana and Ohio during the winter. The problem with that is I am at work and unable to take the time off to go to a dealer, not until I get home to Florida and then the problem appears to be gone. So I am only requesting that tsb 18-114 and 18-124 be applied to my vehicle also. The "fix" to oil dilution should not just be applied to northern states when many of us travel through northern states in the winter. I am going to pursue this if I don't hear back from Honda Corp after their previous call to me did not do anything to address my problem. I just want the tib's applied to my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle abruptly stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was experienced twice. The vehicle was coasted to the shoulder, restarted, and the vehicle resumed normal functionality. The vehicle was taken to mansfield motor group (1493 Park Avenue w, Ontario, oh 44907, (888) 577-2689. The vehicle was not diagnosed. While the contact was inspecting the vehicle, he became aware that the engine oil level was much higher than normal. The contact stated that there was gasoline mixed in with the engine oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. It was also revealed that in January 2019, Honda sent a recall to adjust the software and make a change in the ac unit and this car had that done. Honda also extended the warranty for these vehicles by one year. It is known that Honda made engine changes in their 2019 modesa. It is speculated that the injector system is causing the issue in the 2017 and 2018 CRV turbo changed engine.
Since new, engine intermittently stalls for a several seconds and then recovers with a burst of acceleration. Happens mainly at intersections when stopped or rolling at a very slow speed and turning either left or right. Dealer cannot diagnose the problem, and I cannot purposely duplicate the problem at will. However, it averages happening every approximately once per week. It happened 4/2/2021, on a heavy traffic loop and caused a fender bender accident. This could have been a major accident resulting in serious injury or death. After investigation, I find engine stalling is a common problem with this model Honda.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that while his daughter was driving up hill at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to thelen Honda (1020 N. euclid ave, bay city, mi 48706, (989) 402-0532) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the turbo needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
Dilution of the engine oil with gasoline, causing level to rise. Smell of gasoline outside vehicle. Dealer says Honda techline told them this is normal. My VIN is not part of Honda's extended warranty as an answer to this issue.
When I star the car and drive the yellow warning light stay on and the red light blink and not go off. All warning light. (tps, collision mitigation problem, emisin syst. Problem, electric brake problem, etc.). aslo this happen already 4 times before. Couple times I use my brakes when I was drive and I felt that the car no stop righ at time and almost hit the other car. Also I change my motor oil and the old one is mix with gasoline and is more volume that I put in. Also some time when I drive the car star to stalling.
