CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

I bought a 2018 Honda CR-V (1.5L turbo engine) in August. It only has 1700 miles, but so far it has stalled on me 3 times (while driving). The first 2 times, I was under 25 mph and it started stalling. Several lights were flashing on the dashboard cautioning engine failure, brake failure, tire pressure failure, etc. The car was making pinging noises while these lights were flashing and it wouldn't drive any longer. I had no choice but to pull over to the side of the road and wait for a tow truck to take me to the dealership. The 3rd time this happened, I was going almost 40mph and it stalled again (same as before). The car was also shaking and stuttering while simply sitting idle. Honda said that the crank shaft sensor (cpk) was defective and replaced it...however, that did not fix the problem. When I asked Honda if this stalling issue was related to articles describing the ongoing problems with this make/model (in recent years), they refused to acknowledge it and said they couldn't comment because it wasn't a "Honda article". I'm sure I'm not the only customer that has come to the dealership with this problem...yet, they refuse to address that it's a serious problem. They also have not declared a recall. This is a serious life-threatening safety hazard. When the car stalled, I wasn't on the expressway, but on local roads; however, I don't feel safe driving this car anymore. I have no idea when it's going to stall again. Honda has given no assurances that they know what the problem is or can even fix it.

Gasoline is getting into the oil. Symptoms are a gas smell in the cabin and the level on the dipstick is above the top fill level. This condition can cause the vehicle to stop running causing a dangerous condition. Honda is repairing cars in cold weather states only. A tsb was issued in October 22, 2018. Why aren't they repairing all of the vehicles with this problem? I had the oil changed on my car and the oil level was 1/2 over the fill mark.

Our 2018 Honda CRV touring has the oil dilution problem. Our oil level increased about 3/4 inch on the oil stick from may, 2018 to December, 2018 and it smells like gas. We have also smelled gas inside our car. Honda is fixing some cars, but we live in Arkansas and our state is not on the list to be repaired. We could have an engine fire so feel it is not safe to drive. Also, the engine will wear out a lot faster with the dilution....even though the Honda dealer said it won't!!

Engine oil was diluted with gasoline, causing possible motor damage. Dealer redid a fuel mapping, and made it so teh fan cannot blow until the car is fully warmed. This wont correct the issue. These direct injected motors let gasoline past the rings when cold, and if the car is cold frequently, the gasoline will not vaporize form the oil. If left unchecked, the increased volume of liquid can cause the car to lsoe power and shut off at any time, causing a safety risk. I live in Texas, so it doesn't get exceptionally cold, but this happened on a brand new car with less than 2500 miles on it at the time. Internet searches show thousands of people having the same issue. A recall should be forced to correct these issues, and keep people safe.

I have the 2018 touring 1.5L turbo charged model. I am experiencing the fuel in oil issue and Honda says Nevada is not included in the update. I purchased this car brand new and want it fixed. Extra oil in the engine; during the previous oil change I followed the oem's recommendation and added the proper amount of oil to the engine (3.5L or 3.7qt). However, when I did the last oil change I drained 5qts of oil out of the engine, how is this possible?

My 2018 cry had over ful oil level on dipstick and bad smell of fuel in oil. Took it into dealership and they acknowledged the issue was known in northern states but not in Texas where I live. The service manager said a fix is being issued in northern states and he said that he would call me in few weeks to schedule the fix for my CRV. It's been 1 month and I have not heard from service manager. I checked oil level after 1 month of driving and the level is above full with a smell of gas once again. This is most likely causing damage to my engines longevity.

Honda gas in oil. When in for their recall. Oil was changed and A/C module replaced. I never checked the oil for gas but feel this problem must cause some engine damage. Would like to see a formal recall with proper corrective action. Dealer seemed evasive when asked to explain the problem, no big deal just gas in the oil.

October 2018 we took our new C rv on a trip to nashville, tn from traverse city, mi. The check engine light came on and the oil can icon lit up. I called the Honda dealer where I bought the C rv from and they had no idea what was going on. I got out and checked the oil and found it high. I brought the Honda to a quick lube to check it. They changed the oil then sent me on my way. After arriving back home tc a few weeks later we got a recall letter from Honda. On Wednesday, December 26th, williams Honda in tc did the recall work. On Thursday my wife got in the vehicle to go shopping and the heater would not work. She called the Honda dealer and brought the Honda to them. They said that they did not cause the heater to not work with the recall repair. After doing something, the heater began to work again. This is very worrisome, we are not sure what to do next. On an earlier occasion our new CR-V would not start as after only 30 minutes of sitting the battery was dead. The Honda dealer told us you can't leave any lights on as the battery wont last very long.
