CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.
The auto-lock function reported with the key fobs is quite intermittent - mine usually works but my wife's does only 2 out of 5 times. The dealership says they reprogrammed everything and its fine. NOT! they also said that if your cell phone is near it, in your pocket, etc, it won't work.
REALLY? Who doesn't have their phone and their keys in their purse or coat. What a dumb answer or design.
Since around June 2018 the door locking system is intermittent and will selectively lock or not lock when departing the vehicle. The tailgate has been difficult to unlock and open since purchase in 12/2017. NATURALLY Honda says the system is working 100% and said I must have another key with me. The dealership is over 50 miles from home.....where the OTHER KEY is located. DUH. THIS CR-V IS A TOTAL POS AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP. HELP.
