CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

The battery draining issue started in 2017 the same year we bought the car. We informed them, after we shut off the car all the dashboard lights come on. Since then, the battery has been replaced 5 times due to the battery draining issue. Each of those 5 times, they ran a diagnostic and we were told it was a battery issue.
On May 26 we took the Honda CRV to Rick Case Honda and told them that after we shut the car off 10 to 15 minutes latter the entire dashboard lights up. They ran another diagnostic and finally admitted that it was the fuse box draining the battery.
We called USA Honda and informed them about the battery draining issue and a case was created (case # 13823975). We spoke with Andre of USA Honda, 1-800-999-1009 ext. 87248. He requested all the documentation we had related to this issue. So far, there has been nothing done to solve this battery draining issue.
Rick Case Honda has had our 2017 Honda CRV since May 26, 2023. We are still without a vehicle. Rick Case service manager Mark Warshefski (954-364-3013) promised us the car was going to be ready before June 26. We called Mark and he told us the car is not ready that Rick Case Honda is waiting for a fuse box switch is on back with a date in the computer of ETA June 27.
We have called Rick Case Honda president (Adrienne Bono, 954-364-9699) on June 12 and left a message to help us to resolve this problem, so far she has not returned the call. We are looking to obtain a loaner until this part is received by Rick Case Honda.
