CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working. Read more »
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.
It is really frustrating that I have to deal with the problems with my 2017 CRV 1.5l car. I have replaced the turbo twice and the engine is starting to misfire and is still not functioning the way it is supposed to.
Gas and oil mixed with over level on the dip stick, about 1 quart over top limit. Gas smell on dip stick and when oil cap is removed. MINOR GAS smell also noted around vehicle at times. Minor hesitation occasionally with motor. Heater works OK, so far. Honda vehicles that I have owned in past years have been great and NO engine problems whatsoever. This Small engine with the TURBO and High pressure Direct Injection Fuel delivery may be a HUGE PROBLEM with negative results for The Honda Motor Co. I am a loyal supporter for Honda if they can fix this problem. THANK YOU!
Engine is losing power when attempting to accelerate. When the rpm reaches around 2500 that's when the engine starts to hesitate and loses power. Then emission light came back on. When back to dealer with car and the mechanic test drove the car and claims that the car drives just fine and no problems were noted. Suggested that I accompany him on a test drive...did so and noted that the mechanic was driving the car like a little old lady and did not even attempt to duplicate the problem with normal driving. I explained to the mechanic that my complaint was that the engines loses power when you accelerate and that he needs to accelerate to duplicate the problem. So the mechanic decides to accelerate and guess what!?! the engine loses power right on queue when rpm's reached between 2500 and 3000. He acknowledged the problem and we when back to the dealer for a fix.
