Emission System Problem/Check Engine Light On
2017 Honda CR-V
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Honda dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

Every single one of my warning lights came on at once. My CR-V began to drive and idle rough. I took it to my dealership's service center where they told me it was a known issue where the gasoline was mixing with the oil and a software update and oil change would fix the problem. Fine. Done. Not quite two months later, the problem reoccurs. Back to the service center, they replaced the control unit of my CR-V, again with the oil change. Test drive still indicates a rough idle and misfiring. They are now replacing my fuel injector.
My first issue is there is no recall for this problem in the US. Known issue that could lead to engine stalling, should have a recall, no question. Additionally, I am pissed because I was told the initial problem would not cause any additional problems since I had the update "fix" right away. Sure, that's why I am having to replace the fuel injector on my CR-V that only has 25K miles on it.
Not impressed by the "super reliable" Honda CR-V.
