CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

Emergency braking engaged unexpectedly, electronic module failure, all warning lights flashed on the information system, vehicle would not turn off, headlights flashing, windshield wipers engaged without input from driver. Transmission would not engage. This would be very dangerous if had occurred on highway, it occurred in a rural area with very little traffic.

Parasitic battery draw. I-??m being told this is what is causing my repeated issues, I-??ve had the car for 3 years and have replaced the battery 4 times. All warning lights keep cycling despite consistently having it looked at for diagnosing. Today the car would barely move- it powered on just fine, but despite depressing the gas pedal- it would barely move more than 5 miles per hour causing severe risk in the road

I cranked my vehicle as usual, and all of the safety feature warnings began to cycle through on the dash and ding as it changed from one alert to another. I turned the car off and restarted it, but the issue continued. I drove to the store and the warnings continued to cycle through without the dinging sound. When I arrived back home, I looked online for similar issues and found that other owners of the same vehicle had experienced the same issues. There were some owners that noted that they had been told that Honda was aware of the issue and did not currently have a fix. At the advice of one of the posters, I disconnected my battery and reconnected. It didn-??t work right away, but the alerts did go away after being cranked a couple more times. The car seems to drive fine when the alerts appear, but it-??s very concerning as I do not know why it keep happening and what it means about the safety features of my vehicle.

I have experienced problems with this since December 2021. All warning lights start flashing with Hill start problem, brake system problem, brake hold problem, adaptive control problem, stability problem, TPMS problem, Road departure mitigation problem. These warning continue to cycle over and over. Once the warnings are cleared, there are no issues for a few weeks to a month, but it returns. This has occurred 5-6 times since December. I replaced the battery three weeks ago and the issue reappeared today, 27 Apr 22. While researching the issue, I discovered many Honda users experiencing the same issue. This is an issue Honda has to address this issue. I am the only owner of my vehicle which only has 39K miles on it.

I cannot check off enough of the listings of problems with this car. I believe that they are all connected to one central computer malfunction in the vehicle ADAS system. This car was purchased new I first reported it to Honda we had 500 miles on the car. made periodic completes since with the only answer provided was nothing wrong however they did perform a radio update wow. So the problem is I have every warning light going off in the car from lane departure, hill assist start, front end collision, Brakes, airbags, Engine, cruise control, stability along with others. afraid to drive the car for i am not sure what the computer is going to do next accelerate or sudden stop. I can provide vehicle for inspection the symptoms are sporadic

While traveling in the center lane at 65 mph, all systems displayed warning messages, one after another with beeps then total loss of power. No power assisted steering or braking. No emergency flashers. Nothing! The entire dashboard went black. The car sputtered and died - slowly slowing down as I navigated to the edge off the road. Luckily there was an emergency access road I was able to safely stop. It was an extremely frightening experience and I have no confidence in the safety of this vehicle. After the incident, I did some research and found this is not an isolated incident. This car put me in a life or death situation with previously reported safety issues. If I had not taken the appropriate emergency actions to get the vehicle off the road safely, it would have ended very differently. Car is at the Honda dealer being diagnosed.

Vehicle was not running, and electrical components went haywire. Panic horn wouldn-??t stop sounding, dashboard came on, all warning lights on. Brought vehicle to dealership and upon diagnosis, the BCM is faulty (body control module). In researching this, I found Honda had over 800,000 vehicle recalls for this particular issue, but my vehicle model was not part of this recall. I believe that it should. Case #12807731 was opened by me with Honda customer service for the issue. Currently, the part is backordered and not available until mid March. They informed me that I have to disconnect the battery when not in use and reconnect when I need to drive somewhere. My vehicle is just under 5 years old.

Wire harnesses failed on both the driver and passenger side rear doors. These wire harnesses control the lock/unlock, window, and speaker functions of each door. The failure was premature cracking/breaking of the electrical wires controlling the aforementioned functions. There are two safety risks. One is the fact that the rear doors will not lock when either a) the vehicle accelerates and all doors automatically lock or b) the driver goes to lock the doors by engaging the lock function on the driver side front door panel. Related, the rear doors will not unlock when either a) the vehicle is set to Park or b) the driver goes to unlock the doors by engaging the unlock function on the driver side front door panel. In an emergency or other time sensitive situation, this would prevent timely egress from the vehicle (especially with children in the rear seats). The second safety risk is that the up/down functionality of the windows which would prevent either a) timely egress in an emergency or other time sensitive situation or b) temperature control via natural air flow. The components have been inspected by my mechanic and will be replaced with OEM parts at a somewhat significant cost including parts and labor. It has not been inspected by any other party. The symptoms first appeared about three months ago. Symptoms include a) doors not unlocking when vehicle is set to Park and b) windows not engaging (i.e. going up/down).

Bought new 2017 Honda CRV in 2017. Battery drain left me stranded at long term airport parking after 3 days of parking. I got it fixed at a Honda dealer with a TSB. Now battery dies and needs to be replaced about every 2 years. I've had to replace the battery 3 times already. This is unacceptable. Honda knows the battery size is insufficient.

All of the ADAS Warnings go off on the dash-every one. It turns on and off randomly and lasts from hours to weeks and I-??m not sure what the cause is. The dealership has told a few things but the main one was over the phone saying it could be due to obstruction of the sensors-snow/ice or something of that nature but it happens even when it-??s clear all the time. Recently, when the sensor system has been -??working-?? on the highway, the brake system activated itself slowing my car down and a warning came up on my dash that said to Brake but there was nothing on the sides or in front of my car, only behind me! And it happened without warning. It-??s been persistent despite weather conditions. This has happened numerous times, I-??d say at least 100.

The adaptive cruise control was set on the highway. When an attempt was made to increase speed to pass a vehicle, the engine started chugging, the check engine light came on and the vehicle lost power. After, I was able to pull to the side of the highway, I turned the vehicle off. Restarted the vehicle and check engine light was no longer on and was able to proceed as normal.

After the car is turned completely off, the dash lights up with all warning lights on and won't shut down, which then drains the battery. This has happened 3 times and we've gone through 2 batteries. The 3rd time it happened, we were able to get it to the dealership before it drained the battery completely. The dealership was able to confirm that it's the Body Control Module that is causing the electrical shortage which completely drains the battery. Part is on back order and car is unsafe to drive at this time because of the electrical shortage in the BCM.

I noticed the car lights flicker when the car was parked and when I would reverse the car into a parking spot the infotainment system would just shut off abruptly and the lights would extremely dim. I took it to a local mechanic to have it inspected. He suggested changing the battery and alternator. After changing the alternator and battery the car was unable to start 2 months later. It required a jump and needed was taken to the dealership. The dealership said it was a software issue and uprgraded/reprogrammed the vehicle. After the upgrade the car was still having drain issues the next day. This time the lights were flickering while driving and felt like it was sputtering at 72mph. The car is not safe to drive due to possibility of shutting down at any moment and the constant drain on the battery. Honda will not address the issue but will only suggest unneeded costly repairs (chaning the alternator). There is currently a class action lawsuit against HONDA regarding a parasitic drain on the battery. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!!
