CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.
Honda email, twitter and facebook representatives refuse to acknowledge the issue.
Took it to dealer, they readily knew this was a known problem with a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) notice to fix. They said they will fix it. Then they called and said they won't.
Something so trivial but dangerous. Honda refuses to fix. Pathetic company.
Bought the car. Drove off the lot. Had to stop as the dash was beeping at me to let me know that hatchback wasn’t latched completely. Got back in and put the car in drive and the entire shifter button came flying out with the spring. Took 10 days to get it back.
A vital functional part used multiple time a day just up and cracks. A part that should have lasted the life of the vehicle is broken in less than 2 years of service. Honda really dropped the ball on this redesigned part.
While driving at high speed, keeping my hand on the knob, the knob came off putting me in great tension. Somehow with the help of the highway patrol I was able to bring the vehicle under control. Somebody guided me to use a small pen type thing to push the gear lever. With that I was able to bring the vehicle to the service station but it was extremely painful and hazardous. Please do something to rectify the problem or change the vehicle, as I cannot risk my family into a hazardous situation as the new knob is also weak.
Gear shift know popped out and onto the floor while the car was in reverse. There was no way to shift out of reverse until I found the button and was able to smash it in so I could park. The button still keeps popping out and can lead to a very dangerous situation. If the bottom rolled under the seat, the car could only be stopped with the emergency break.
The gear shift button is a piece of plastic. It broke off and popped out while still in drive. I had to reach to the floor while braking to grab it and re-insert it, so I can put the car into park. It was pretty stressful since I could not easily shift past reverse. It took a while. You would think as much as this button is touched that it would be made out of better material. I have to take it to the dealer to have it replaced.
The shifting button mechanism broke. I used masking tape to secure the button to prevent it from falling out so I was still able to shift. The Honda Dealer replaced it under warranty but the gear shift is not shifting as smoothly as it used to shift before breaking and am concerned it could break again. My mileage was only 5,312 when this happened and I had been very gentle when shifting but it still broke. This is a dangerous safety hazard as it can brake easily at any time, making it so that you can't shift gears. I was fortunate that I was aware of the defect and had been carrying masking tape in the car for this purpose.
The gear shift knob broke. I was surprised to see that it was made of a flimsy piece of plastic. The car is drivable but getting harder to put it in park. The dealer had the knob in stock, but not the spring. This is the 2nd time that a plastic piece of the interior broke off.

Never ever will buy a Honda/Acura again.
