I purchased my car in April 2016. Sometime around August 2016 my car started having this problem. I put my car in reverse, start backing out of my garages, it shakes (sometimes a mild shake and at other times moderate), then my engine dies. The first time it happened I had no clue what was going on. My brake had stopped working so I continued to role backwards towards my neighbor's garage door until I placed my car in park and then was able to restart my car.
I took my car to the dealership where I bought it explaining the problem. They told me they could not recreate the problem. This happened a few more times in 2016 and a few more times in 2017. I did not take it into the shop every single time it happened but when I did I was told the same thing. It has happened to me about 4 times in 2018. It happened in May 2018 and June 2018, almost a month apart, and I took it in both times and was told they could not find anything wrong and could not recreate the problem. At the June 2018 service appt, it was taken home by a mechanic and he did notice that the car was sluggish so they flushed something to help with the performance.
I had no problems with this issue until September 15, 2018 when it again died on my when reversing out of my garage. I did not take it to the dealership at this time. It happened again less than one month later on October 8, 2018. I made an appointment and was told they could not find a problem and that they have never heard of this. After looking at this site however, I see that similar complaints were made about the 2015 CRV and the owner(s) received the same response. Although it might be rare or it is not being properly documented my the service department, it is happening and something needs to be done.
