The car (a 2016 Honda CRV EX) will not start. I washed and vacuumed it. I tried to start and it would not start. I looked up this problem and have found it to be very common with all new Hondas. What is the solution? I purchased a new battery because the Honda Service said that if you leave the accessory lights on while the doors are open, it will drain the battery dead if open for more than 20 minutes. Also, once the battery dies, the anti-theft will disable the car. You must call the dealership of purchase and get a security code to reset the anti-theft system. What a pain in the ass.

CR-V EX-L 2.4L

Entering the vehicle, closing the door, putting on seat belt, foot on the brake, no radio or A/C selected, then pressing the start button nothing happens. Foot off the brake, cycling the start button through the accessory light show, then putting foot on the brake, pressing start, maybe it starts. More time not. Some times pressing the start button again and again, it will start. Very frustrating. Battery, alternator and starter all check good. No obvious issue with relays as when it does start on the first try, all runs well. Checked all the TSBs and other sites, no mentions of this problem with this year and model. Ugh.

I am posting this because this is now the 5th time this year that my 2016 car is having this problem. The first time this happened was in the summer when the car wouldn't start. I had to call a tow truck to have them jump my car. At first the car wouldn't even unlock and I thought it was a key problem. I was able to remove the key from the autostart button and then couldn't get the car to start. When the tow truck company came they gave me the jump and I then drove it to an auto shop to get the battery tested. When they tested the battery, they said it was fine. I think there is a wiring issue where it's not reading the connection. I have now had this issue happen 5 times now and feel that I need to be ready to get a jump as this is the only way to fix the problem. I have gotten the battery tested numerous times and each time the test indicates there is nothing wrong with the battery.

I started my Honda like any other normal day. It started right up and I stopped at several places no problem. Came home put my car in the garage as I always do and left again in about 20 minutes for an appointment. I tried to start the car but it would not turn on. Had a cranking/clicking sound but had full lights. It would not start.

I called AAA and they came and jumped it within 5 secs. Called Honda garage and took it up to them. They put it on the machine and it showed no problems. So that was the end to that until 5 weeks later, October 22, 2018. Same thing happened this time I called Honda Roadside Assistance and they came and jumped it. Called my Honda garage and was told they were going to be closing so I can bring it up at another time. Called the next morning and made an appointment for today, October 24, 2018.

Once I finished my call with the service guy I called Honda directly and explained this to her. She stated since I told her I had the car jumped she could not do anything about it and I would have to wait until it happens again and have the vehicle towed to the garage. At the next appointment i a diagnostic test and again could not find a problem. Readout showed batter test GR8 Diagnostic needed. The next test was in about an hour and showed a good battery.

While talking the the service dept I was told this was the 4th 2016 CRV came in with the same problem so he contacted his representative and was told there were no recalls on this. I then talked with a friend that owned a 2016 CRV and he told me he had the same problem and took it to the garage around 15 times until he just got tired of it and bought a new vehicle. That is now 5 vehicles, that I heard about with the same problem and that is only talking to the service dept and one friend. Honda did not seem to care when I called the main office just that at the present time there is not recall for this problem. My service guy said he was going to write his 4 service calls up and try to get his representative to do something about it.

I drove to Columbus GA 164 miles from my home on 7/1 got out o f the car and when I got backin the car would not start, Called AAA for assistance and got a jump and car started right away. The next morning the same thing happened and required me t call AAA again. The engine does not turn over, only goes click, click, click. This is the sixth time this has happened in two months. I replaced the batteries in the remote starter and the problem continues. I took it to the dealer 3 weeks ago who found nothing wrong. Now it is back in the dealership.
