CarComplaints.com Notes: Some vehicles alert you if you fall asleep behind the wheel, but the 2015 Honda CR-V has a different approach: just shake the heck out of you so you never fall asleep in the first place.
Last week I was backing out of our driveway and noticed my car had no power steering. Brought it into the dealer and was told an animal chewed through my wiring. After being quoted a crazy amount I brought it to a local mechanic and got it fixed. 5 days later the exact same thing happened.
What I found out is that Honda uses a soy based wiring in newer Honda vehicles. It’s more environmentally friendly but animals are attracted to it. I googled, and it seems that this is a common complaint. It’s a safety issue that they are aware of but will not issue a recall or cover this damage under warranty.
I live 12 miles south of town. I started to drive and the power steering went out. It could have caused a serious injury or death rolling down the side of a mountain. I have receipt from the local dealership (which is excellent by the way), showing rabbit chewed steering cable. How did they know it was a rabbit. Well, it rode in the engine compartment all the way to the dealership. The reason they knew a rabbit chewed the cable is when they opened the hood a rabbit took off running in the shop. Someone took a picture of the rabbit running from my car. They said mine was the fourth taken in due to the wire being chewed.
THE IMPORTAN THING TO KNOW IS THAT POWER STEERING IN THE HONDA CRV CAN STOP WORKING WITH NO NOTICE. HONDA SHOULD REFUND THE PEOPLE WHO PAID TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. THEY SHOULD ALSO RECALL THESE CARS AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
