CarComplaints.com Notes: Some vehicles alert you if you fall asleep behind the wheel, but the 2015 Honda CR-V has a different approach: just shake the heck out of you so you never fall asleep in the first place.
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The car stalls while moving slowly in reverse. This is dangerous in two ways. Way one, while moving in reverse the car stalls, and thus I stop moving when I and the people around me thought I would continue. The second way is I often end up reversing more quickly when I feel the car beginning to stall, this keeps the car from stalling but causes me to move in reverse faster than I would like to. This usually happens when the car is started from a cold start (after sitting overnight).. this issue has been happening to me for at least half a year. Not every time I start the car, but at least once a week. I bought the car new in June 2015. Also in general the car shudders significantly while idling in drive. I fear that soon the car may start stalling in drive as well while it is idling. Many people report these same issues online, and a recall should be done before the problem gets worse as the cars age.
My car began shaking while I was driving on the highway and shut down as I was driving. Was towed to Honda, they couldn't find anything wrong, fixed a recall and sent me back out on the road. It then happened a second time, car started shaking while driving and shut down as I was driving on a main highway almost killing myself and others. Towed to Honda again and they said a gasket should have been replaced and wasn't viewable to the eye, engine now needs replaced. I see other engine recalls on this car and wonder if this is a part of what happened with my vehicle. It only has 65,000 miles on the vehicle and its such a shame that I now have to either purchase a new engine or sell my vehicle. I've been battling that Honda shop for months now
Takata recall 2.4L vtc actuator replacement I have had a few Honda with this engine it is very common in this engine the vtc system relies on proper oil pressure and allows the vtc actuator to make continuous intake valve timing changes based on operating conditions. Intake valve timing is optimized to allow the engine to produce maximum power. If an error occurs, the vtc system control is disabled and the valve timing is no longer variable. This should be repaired sooner rather than later to avoid a potential check engine light possibly accompanied with rough idle and/or lack of power or stalling
Gas improperly leaking into the oil. My original engine failed with no root cause analysis confirming the problem. The dealership installed a different used engine and after 2,500 miles on oil installed in December 2018, sent the oil to a blackstone labs for testing on Feb 1, 2019. They confirmed high levels of gas in the oil. My original engine had a catastrophic failure and it will be repeated again if we cant get Honda to own this problem.their response so far is there is no problem. This problem seems to happen during the winter months in the midwest. The first sign is the oil dipstick showing oil levels rising over weeks. The final result from the lowered combustion temperature of the oil is an event which converts the remaining oil to sludge which causes engine failure within a short time frame after the car cools down. It's not clear how the high levels of gas in the oil causes the engine failure or how the oil converts to sludge within weeks.
Vehicle (with 89,000 miles) experienced misfiring and major loss of acceleration while traveling uphill at highway speeds. Upon removing the cylinder head, the dealer noticed significant carbon buildup on intake valves and bent valves. Owner had followed all required manufacturer maintenance and used top tier gasoline, but kept rpms low while driving. Manufacturer's extended warranty initially would not cover despite known carbon buildup issues with gdi engines and lack of scheduled maintenance covering intake cleaning. Ultimately, cylinder head and fuel injectors were replaced under warranty.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. when the vehicle was started, a loud sound was heard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (zimbrick Honda, 1601 w beltline hwy, madison, wi 53713) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain tensioner failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to wait for parts. The failure mileage was 31,000.
I had just returned from the grocery store with one of my daughters. We pulled into my driveway and my 2015 Honda CR-V ex-L was stopped and my foot on the brake. My car was at a complete stop with the engine running. Before I could put the car in park, the engine suddenly revved up to a very high RPM and lunged forward. Even though my foot was on the break, I was unable to stop the vehicle and the car ran of two different sets of bushes before running into the southeast corner of my house! the driver's side air bag deployed. My daughter was in the front passenger seat and (maybe luckily) her air bag did not deploy. The airbag may be a tanaka airbag. I hit my airbag with such force that the air began to smoke. My daughter's was injured and she suffered a very bloody nose when her head hit the dashboard. I suffered bruises to my abdomen. The force of the crash knocked the plaster off the inside of my kitchen and threw it 10 feet. The studs were knocked off the moorings. Because my house was built in 1929 studs did not brake and the damage was only cosmetic. It is likely that the car is totaled and there will be significant costs in repairing the house.
Since day one there has been a strong vibration at idle. The engine will be at 650-700 rpms and then drops to 500. It shakes uncontrollably when the rpms drop at a light or while idling. I've taken it in 3 times with no repair success.
My car stalled, it had stalled before. I meant to go in and have the dealer look at it but I did not do that. On April 10 2018 I went to pull out on hwy 78, from my road weekend villa, my car stalled, and I was hit head-on and put in the hospital. I did not realize how dangerous the stalling would be. My son-in-law found this notice on the internet, https://www.google.com/url"sa=T&source=web&rct=J&url=https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2015-Honda-CR-V-2014-15-Accord-recalled-to-replace-engine-short-block.html&ved=0ahukewjeqctjtopaahwmtd8khcv5dfgqfghdmai&usg=aovvaw1uchdcc3fcdt0tg60svr0L,2015 Honda CR-V, 2014-'15 Accord recalled to replace engine short block published: 03/10/2015 - by [xxx], correspondent. Washington ? american Honda motor co. Is recalling 137 2014-'15 Honda Accord cars with a four-cylinder engine and 2015 Honda CR-V SUVS to replace the engine short block, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "the affected vehicles may have been assembled with improperly torqued connecting rod bolts, which can cause the engine to lose power or leak oil, " said NHTSA in its recall summary. "loss of engine power may result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The problem was discovered through a "warranty claim review process, " Honda said. The affected 2014 Accord were built from July 29, 2014 to July 31, 2014, while the 2015 Accord were built from August 14, 2014 to January 30, 2015. I have experienced several issues with my 2015 Honda CR-V: 1. lug nut corrosion: I have had several lug nuts replaced due to visual corrosion around the welded top to side area of the nut. Replaced under warranty @ 36,000 miles. 2. engine / transmission vibration: Low speed vibration, I can visibly see the passenger seat vibrate. High speed vibration ~ 70mph, this is felt through the seat and steering wheel. Rear hatch vibration (booming) ~ 55 - 60 mph. The dealer has installed countermeasure parts @ 36,000 miles, but the vibration has gotten worse.
Car has a ridiculous shake on idle, literally feels as if there is an earthquake going on outside, I found supporting evidence that Honda is aware of the issue but somehow Honda is getting away with it and everyone in most blogs I've found who own this vehicle are still waiting for help / possible recall announcement from Honda. I really hope someone can help us all out as it's a horrible feeling to buy a car then have it do this to you... I feel stuck. I feel sad & bad & depressed. I am keeping myself busy by ranting all over the internet but I would strongly appreciate some help for this unjust issue that Honda is apparently ignoring and getting away with it.
The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. while driving less than 50 mph, the vehicle vibrated without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
Vehicle shakes while idle. Dealer is aware of this, but when I took to them for a check-up, they stated "found no issues at this time". I would like this problem fixed as soon as possible!
2015 Honda CR-V has a sporadic problem in gear only at an idle. Engine RPM drops by 100 to 200 RPM and excessive vibration is felt. Having the vehicle in neutral when this occurs does not produce the drop in RPM. When the vehicle is placed in drive again, the RPM drop continues to be observed. Releasing the brake momentarily or moving the steering wheel restores the engine RPM for a period of time. A hesitation off idle where the vehicle almost dies in traffic has happened twice now. Dealership has no authorized corrective repairs to perform. Tech manager at dealership says that the problem is known and deemed acceptable. Have scheduled two meetings with the Honda district service manager and she has been a "no show" both times. Today I waited for 70 minutes after our appointment time and then left the dealership extremely friutrated. This seems like an engine management issue. Why isn't Honda taking this seriously" does someone have to be injured before corrective action is taken"
This car is severely vibrating including car back seat, toys/things on car back seat are vibrating and making noise. When I full stop somewhere, transmission is on drive mode. Car begins to vibrate too much.
While in motion on both city streets and highways there is a lack of acceleration when attempting to merge into traffic; at traffic stops there is a lack of acceleration to begin a turn. There is documentation online for some 2015 crvs experiencing this problem. My vehicle has experienced the same. (Honda dealer unable to replicate the problem.) it is an intermittent problem, having occurred 5 times in the past year, thus far without incident, but I have been nearly hit twice.
When accelerating from a stop into a right or left turn and let up on the accelerator, then try to accelerate after making the turn, I experience a total loss of power. If I let up on the accelerator, and then press on the accelerator again the vehicle will accelerate normally. If instead when the vehicle loses power, and I continue to hold the accelerator pressed down the vehicle stays in a lost state of power until I take my foot off the accelerator and then press down again. This event happens 2 to 3 times per month since the car was delivered to me by the dealer. This is dangerous, especially if I am making a left turn or trying to accelerate onto an interstate highway 's on ramp. When reported to the dealer, I was told that this was normal for this car.
Vehicle vibrates when idle or under 2200 RPM's while driving. This seems extremely unsafe....I recently purchased this vehicle as a cpo vehicle from gwinnett place Honda and they never told me about this defect. I am now stuck with a vehicle that is very unsafe for myself and my children.
