CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 Honda CR-V has a trend of engine hesitation when accelerating.
Honda has tried to fix this delayed acceleration with a software update, but many owners report it didn't fix the problem.
This defect trend is not quite bad enough yet for us to slap on the "Beware of the Clunker" seal. But it's a concern & definitely something to keep in mind for a test drive.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
I have owned and liked various Honda cars for years. So at the end of last year we bought a new 2014 Honda CRV with the 1.6 litre diesel engine. We have used it on the same roads (in the city and between cities) many times. In the city, the fuel mileage computer almost always shows 5.4 litres/100 km. On longer highway trips, the computer goes down to about 5.0 litres/100 km. Always the same, never really changes.
Last week we took the car in for its first service at 10,000 km. Driving away from the dealership the fuel mileage computer showed 6.8 litres/100 km. I was really surprised, and called the service manager. At first he said that "they don't touch the fuel mileage computer during the servicing, and that any unusual values must be due to my driving style". After I disagreed with him, he said that "maybe they reset the computer and it would go back to its usual values in a short time".
I have now driven over 1000 km (almost all highway) since the servicing. The fuel mileage computer has not dropped below 6.1 litres/100 km. I was really puzzled why this had happened until I read that Honda has admitted to a cheat program in their emissions control software (similar to Volkswagen's cheat program). I am quite sure they reprogrammed the software during my first servicing to remove this cheat program, and the result is that I will get worse fuel economy.
I am disappointed that Honda would have a cheat program, I am disappointed that the service manager lied to me about it, and I am disappointed that I will get worse fuel economy for the remaining life of our vehicle.
Anyone else experienced this? How to make a complaint or claim to Honda?
