I took car to dealer and was told no extended warranty, despite so many public complaints and known issue. I was told "my vin has no recalls on it". They want about 5K to fix pistons and timing belts for a car worth not much more. I'm being told by dealer, sorry, your car is too old.
My 2013 CRV is using over a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. I purchased the vehicle new and have made sure oil was always changed with synthetic as prescribed. This excessive consumption started about 3 years ago. When I had the oil changed, the tech said it was low when he drained the oil. Since then the problem has steadily increased.
I do not seem to be burning the oil. There are no drips under the vehicle. When I talk to other Honda owners, they tell me this is a known problem with the 2013’s. Is there a fix? I love my CRV.
Oil gauge in the vehicle does not provide a correct reading. The car tells you when the oil is low or needs to be changed. So naturally you start to rely on that. Anyway, engine started making clanking noises when you start it up. We took it into the shop. They said it was low on oil. We said light never came on, we change our oil on a regular basis, but do put many miles on the CRV. Mechanic at the shop (which changes our oil on regular basis) said, Honda CRV are known for this problem.
The light does not come on when it should. When it does come on, the vehicle is way too low on oil. Also, vehicle should never have been low in the first place, which shows it was burning oil. Now we have permanent engine damage and it burns more oil so you see white smoke. Going to be very expensive.
It is noteworthy that mechanic said that this is a common problem with Honda CRV.
My 2013 Honda CRV is using a lot of oil. It started making a really loud noise no engine light telling me what was wrong. I had 30% oil life before change, took it to Honda garage tech said no oil, but no leaks can be found. Tech replaced oil, started running good again, no engine light on, no oil leak could be seen.

Honda has a problem with this model year. Many burn excessive oil as defined by most mechanics. But as defined by Honda, burning 1 quart per 1,000 miles normal for this little 4 cylinder engine. The car should be fixed under warranty, but I am not getting satisfaction to date. Honda is brushing it under the rug with this nonsensical 1,000 mile/quart policy. And this model requires synthetic oil. At prescribed oil changes, you are adding much more oil between changes than the replacement calls for! Nuts! This is my third and last Honda. Once upon a time, they built good products and stand by them. No longer.
Update from Jan 1, 2018: Demonstrated oil burn exceeding Honda's "normal" rate.
Just got engine work done by dealer yesterday. They had the car four days. Big job.
Hope they did the work and problem will be solved.

Any mechanic worth a salt would laugh at that oil burn rate on a small 4 cylinder engine that Honda considers "normal". There should be a class action suit started to help the rest of you folks.
In the past two years, the oil level routinely dropped to 15% after driving ~5,000 miles. Synthetic oil is required for 2013 Honda CR-V. However, for many cars it is recommended to change engine oil every 8,000 miles. It is abnormal with such excessive oil consumption.
I purchased this 2013 Honda CRV EXL in November of 2014. It had approx.24000 miles. I drove for a few weeks, had the oil changed, drove it about 2000 miles, checked the oil and found it had used a quart and knew this was not normal. So got on line and found there were problems with other Honda cars. What do I need to do about trying to get this problem checked and taken care of? The dealer that I bought this from did not tell me of this problem Honda was having.
