We owned this CRV from the get go. At 16,000 miles I was told the rear passenger side brake pads were worn down. They needed replacing. As did the rotors of course. Seriously 16000 and all the other pads were fine. It actually was only the inner pad that was worn down.

Then again this happened at 35,000. This time I replaced them. And here we are again at 54000. I have never had a car that chews through a single brake pad. So today we are getting the caliper and pads replaced. If this doesn’t work. This car has to go. And I have searched for TSB’s on it. Nothing. But I am reading plenty of complaints about the same. Clearly Honda must know there is an issue.

We parked the car in a garage while we went away for 3 months. Upon our return the brakes were making loud scraping noises. We were told it was rust and would wear off. It did not. Took it to dealer and we were told we needed all new rotors and brakes. We paid to have work done. We just recently parked the car for a couple of weeks and guess what.......the brakes started to make the grinding noise again. We called the dealer and we're told this would happen again. Obviously, Honda has a problem they are ignoring. They know it happens and their only answer is it will happen again. If they cannot fix, this will be my last Honda.

First of all there was rear brake "freeze". Both rear brakes did not work and were frozen and the calipers were also frozen and could not work. This change must have been gradual over the past year as I did not notice it and there was still 12/32 left on both rear brakes as compared to the front brakes which only had 9/32 left. They had to use blow torches to get the calipers and bolts of the drums off. Car had 28,000 miles on it. I was told that I drove too much on the salt brine we use for snowy roads here and them I was told that I didn't drive my car enough - both were given as reasons that this happened. After spending between $450.00 and $500.00 to have my brakes replaced, one week later I was going up a hill at 30 miles an hour and put my foot on the brake pedal and ran right into another car. Thankfully I swerved to th right when I realized nothing was happening and only hit his left rear. In hindsight, the brake pedal was "loose" but I thought that was because they had fixed the brakes.

Honda customer service was very rude and antagonistic. I pointed out that they had had this same problem with the Accords and had jus lost a lawsuit with another one of their models and the regional derive manager got really nasty. They don't stand behind their cars.

Dealership claims the "Honda people" are aware of the issue, but don't know the cause of the problem. They claim the brake grinding is "not causing any problems". 1) How can they say this if they do not understand what the problem is? 2) It is a significant grinding as the vehicle slows to a stop. Sounds like warped rotors, if you are familiar with that sound and feel. This is a brand new vehicle! I'm supposed to wait and see what the Honda people are going to do - if anything. This is my first and last Honda.
