There was a recall of the 2012 Honda CRV because of a faulty front door latch on the drivers side that I did not know about. On October 18 2016,, while I was driving on the highway, my drivers side door flew open and I barely averted an accident with another car. I took the car in to Bend Honda in order to have it fixed and pointed out that there had been a recall of the 2012 Honda CRV'S because of this problem and felt that I should have to pay. They said that my VIN number wasn't on the list so I would have to pay for the repair. The only thing that concerned them was that got their money, not the issue of a potentially dangerous problem with my Honda.
My research on this problem showed that there had been class action lawsuits against Honda regarding this problem as well as numerous complaints by Honda owners. I feel that Honda has been negligent in not acknowledging the problem. In fact, the person I spoke with at Honda said he never heard of such a thing. I would like Honda to be accountable for this faulty lock and I would like to be reimbursed for the $174.23 that I had to pay to have the faulty lock replaced.
