When I was cleaning & vacuuming my car, happened to see a shiny fluid below spare tire. Remove the knob and lifted the spare tire only to find a half inch stagnant water stinking. Thought it might be condensation of humidity. Cleaned and dried it. After a heavy rain I found water accumulating below spare tire. This thing is driving me crazy. No body work done on the rear of my car ever. This is definitely a manufacturing defect. Strange that no recall is mentioned for my VIN. Heading to dealer & calling up Honda customer care to see what they have to say about it.
Update from May 18, 2015: Visited the Fletcher Honda dealership. Inspite of telling them its a manufacturing Defect, they said they are going to charge me $ 112.0 + Taxes just to inspect what the problem is. Ridiculous. Attached are of the some of the snaps of water in the trunk well.
Update from Jun 7, 2015: Thanks people for the suggestions. I believe in DIY. After a close observations from various angles in my trunk well (a mirror & torch light helped) , I found a gap between the welds that was as thick as a quarter dollar coin. Googled online for some solutions, I came across a Rubber Silicon Sealant on ebay for around $5, with free shipping. Stuffed enough Sealant into the gap and a additional layer on top of it. This part of place has seen heavy thunder storms resulting in flash flood. Also took my CRV to a water wash. Now I dont see a sinlge drop of water in my trunk well.
I am happy that I saved atleast couple of 100 dollars, and not let Honda dealer rip me off.
