This was a problem I only noticed after a significant number of things had been stolen from my car, which I use for work and often transport video equipment in. It was extremely costly and very annoying, especially since the doors would unlock themselves up to a minute after I "locked" the car and parked it.

When I unlock the front passenger door, it locks immediately. My passenger has to be poised to grab the door as soon as I unlock it. This can take several seconds.

When I use the fob from ouside I have to continually press unlock while simultaneously trying to pull the door open.

I cannot manually open the door from inside the car.

Bought the car 2/2020 for my 16 year old daughter. The rear driver's side locking actuator went out. Honda charged me $250 to replace. Then, the front and rear passenger locking actuators went out, which cost me another $230 each. The doors lock and unlock on their own, which is unsafe.

All of my car door locks keep cycling between locked and unlocked. I can't use the key fob remote because the lock will do the opposite of what I need it to do. It is hard to get in and out of the car and I am worried I might get locked in or out. I am worried that the car won't stay locked and someone will break in/steal my car. Also, the car alarm keeps going off due to the fact that the car can't register that the door is locked. I have people walking into stores telling me my alarm is going off. It is scary and frustrating. I was told it is probably the driver's side that has gone bad and that it is causing all the other locks to malfunction.

Cannot believe that the Honda CRVs continue to have problems with their door locks and yet, I cannot get anything fixed without paying for it!!!

I would personally like to thank you for taking the time to review my complaint. I believe that my case is relatively simple, all information is provided in the hopes of effortlessly resolving my complaint.

I purchased a 2008 Honda CRV from the Midtown Honda dealership sometime around the year 2013. September 27, 2014 is when Honda announced/ published an article for a "recall for the door lock actuator" (not specifying which door or how many of the doors were affected) However, did not have any issues and was unaware of the recall until I started having issues with the driver side door. At one point the remote was not working and had to enter manually using the key.

The key would not open the driver side door manually or remotely so I took my 08 CRV to my dealer Midtown Honda to address the issue. I brought the car in to service the lock on March 30th 2015. I would not be informed about the recall until after that date. They failed to inform me right then and there about the recall. (door lock actuator again not stating which one specifically or how many doors)They serviced it charging us $88.27 for labor and $31.32 for parts for a total of $119.59 CDN. This would not be the last time I bring in my CRV for locking/unlocking issues.

There was a warranty extension until November 1st 2015 and I brought my car in on March 30, 2017. The article explains that "Honda agrees to replace door lock actuators and related parts in all four passenger doors, at no cost to owners ." The car was brought in to service that exact issues on March 30, 2015 way before the November 1, 2015 warranty but we were still charged $119.59. Again we were uninformed about the recall until after bringing the car in for servicing, the knew very well about the recall but failed to tell us that day March 30, 2015 and still charged us.

https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2015/02/honda-cr-v-warranty-extended-to-cover-door-lock-problem/index.htm.

So my problem is I brought my car in to service the locking/unlocking issues and on another article it says that we are entitled to a full replacement (even if door lock actuator is functioning properly) At the time we were unaware of the severity of the lock issue, and the problems it would give us in the future. We were uniformed by Honda that the locking issue could possibly be all doors. So we only fixed the one door (date stated above) thinking it would only be one door and not all of them, as that saying goes "if its not broken don't fix it."

https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2014/honda-cr-v-door-lock-actuator-lawsuit-settled.shtml

As I stated above that this would not be the first issues i have with the door lock actuators. Second time i brought it in for servicing regarding this issues was March 20 2017 Labor $194 plus parts $14.16 total $208.16 passenger rear door switch. Third instance regarding same issue July 29, 2017 Labor $259.76 parts $97.74 rear left door actuator and fourth and final time September 26, 2017 $194.82 front passenger door latch actuator.

So as you can see my dilemma with Midtown Honda we payed a total including the first instance with the lock, a total of $880.07 CDN. for all four doors total. Yes, I understand the recall deadline of November 1, 2015 which I brought my car in for the first time in March 30, 2015, and was still charged for labor when the recall stated that replacements would be made at no expense to owners. We were unaware and uniformed until the fourth and last time we brought our car in for servicing that we could of had all four door locks replaced free at no expense to owners.

I would like to be refunded by Midtown Honda for the $880.07 dollars we spent on all four door locking mechanisms. That we brought in for servicing all four doors on 4 occasions. The first time we brought it in March 30, 2017 we had the driver side lock fixed, and we were not informed of the recall until after that date. We were uniformed by Honda They should of serviced us free of charge for replacing the lock(the first time) They knowingly knew about the recall and still decided to charge us for labor, even when the recall stated replacement at no expense to owners.

I understand and i am very aware that the warranty only covers claims before November 1 2015. But I believed we were uniformed when Honda still decided to charge us for servicing the locks and making us bring our car for all 4 locks on 4 separate occasions. I believe it was totally unnecessary and should of addressed the issues the first time knowingly that all doors could malfunction which they did.

I had a lock recall on driver door that they took care of at Honda in Allentown PA although my locks were fine at the time..I think it was done about Oct. 2015...approx 2weeks later I heard back passenger locks engage while driving (never happened before)...I called and they said I would have to pay ..not recalled..they would also charge for diagnostics because was after a month ..now the locks don't work at all with my key as they used to by just pushing the buttons and I noticed the front passenger side locked itself..I have 2 kids 5 and under (baby) riding with me and not sure if it's safe and not sure if the baby locks even work..Honda is not standing behind the work they did or caring about the problems..my car was inspected approx. 2-2half weeks ago and nothing was noted about these problems except the door actuator for passenger doors...and now the car won't start at all ...
