Door lock actuator on rear passenger door began to give out and rattle when trying to lock or unlock. It also failed to unlock or lock and at times locked and unlocked on its own. Lock was replaced. Just recently, the driver door did the same and it was also replaced. Now the driver rear and front passenger are doing the exact same thing. Sometimes the door locks and unlocks automatically or when I unlock the door, it quickly relocks. Same rattling noise as other two doors.

Cannot unlock the doors using the key manually. The door locks relock within 1 second after unlocking the door electronically. Have to have hand on the door handle when unlocking the car otherwise it will relock before I can get the door open.

In may of 2013 my back passenger door on my 08 CR-V would not stay locked in spite of all efforts. I didn't even notice it until one day when I locked my car then happened to see that the back passenger door was still unlocked. The car alarm "armed" itself as normal but I was still able to get in the back door without the alarm going off. I took it to my local repair shop where they replaced the actuator for $200 in the back passenger door. Now, not even one month later, my driver's side door is locking by itself when I'm trying to get into the car making it almost impossible to get in. I have to keep pressing the unlock button and hope that it will stay unlocked long enough for me to get in. My mechanic said that there is no way to test all of the actuators, that if one goes out that usually means the other three aren't far behind, and apparently he is right. I live in a state that has very hot summers, and it would be terrible if one of my pets accidentally got locked in my car in the summer heat. It seems to me like Honda is bigger than this and should be recalling all door actuators in this make and model. Its a small price to pay for a corporation like Honda, and if they don't recognize the error on their part, I'm going to take the $25-30K that I would normally use to buy a new Honda and use it to buy a GMC or Hyundai. I'm about to drop another $200 to get this actuator replaced making it $400, not counting the almost $1800 I've had to spend replacing the air conditioner (clutch, coil, compressor) over the past two years. Oh, and Honda said the A/C parts I had replaced on my car weren't covered by the letter they sent out regarding the A/C problems in Cr-vs last November, even though I sent in all the supporting paperwork. Good job Honda, I will never buy another car from you.

Passenger side door will not lock with either the key fob or manually. When using the key fob it will lock and then immediately unlock. The same happens whenever the lock button is pressed on the driver/passenger door. When locking it manually on the passenger door, it will unlock immediately as well.

My passenger side door lock will not stay open when I use remote or keyless entry or unlock it manual on drivers door.... my step son had an emergency in may where he couldn't get in or out of the vehicle. I think this should be a recall. Parts are defective and many folks are complaining of the same problems on their Honda CRV vehicle. This is unsafe. When I leave and lock vehicle, the passengers side lock sticks and stays open sometimes to. If someone were to break in my car and check that door all my belonging would be gone.

Locks locking and unlocking while driving--a safety issue. My car broken into due to car's inability to lock. In addition, the car alarm does not function as the malfunctioning actuator on car is signaling that car is unlocked when it is not. Honda fixed actuator on one door, only to have another door malfunction less than 2 months later. Called american Honda today and they are refusing to fix what is defective part since they state is no longer under their 3 year warranty period. Car does not lock while driving. Online reports of people not being able to get out of cars. In the event of a crash or fire, this is a real problem in addition to safety. There is a pending class action suit filed 1-18-13 in Pennsylvania on this same issue fir consumers to be aware of. To have Honda do nothing about this obvious safety issue is of serious concern!!

I have a 2008 CRV and my door lock actuators are failing to keep the doors of the vehicle locked. This is the second time or third time I have had them replaced and they have burned out again and are leaving the doors of my vehicle unlocked at speed. I press the lock button and they lock only to unlock seconds latter. They only seem to have a service life of 20K-35K miles! this mean every two years I have all the locks in my car fail to remain locked. I have a american car from 1996 and the original locks still work fine and stay locked!

Automatic door locks lock and unlock by themselves, sometimes fail to lock or unlock, and make a very loud noise when they are activated. This happens on multiple doors in my Honda CRV. This is a well-known defect and a safety hazard as well as a huge annoyance. The cost to repair this defect in the actuators is about $370 per door. Honda refuses to acknowledge this defect. Do not buy a Honda CR-V.

I stepped out of my car while it was running and the car locked itself. I had to walk home, get the spare key, and then walk back to my car. Then, the car would not unlock with the spare key, manually or by pushing the unlock button. I also tried the valet key--it wouldn't work either. The drivers' door is the only door that has a key lock on it so I couldn't try the key in any of the other doors. This is a serious safety issue that needs to be corrected by Honda.

The driver door has started locking on own. I stopped to get gas on a Saturday evening and I got out to pay at the pump, only to find my car had locked itself. My purse and cell phone was inside. Luckily the gas station had an attendant who was kind enough to let me use his phone. I was 60 miles from home. I could not find a locksmith to come open it up on a Saturday evening. So, not only do I have to replace the actuator in the car, I have to replace the window on my back door because I had to ask a neighbor to break in my house to get the spare key, then drive 120 miles round trip to bring it to me. Even with the spare key, it was a struggle to get the door to open because it would either not unlock or immediately re-lock. I believe this to be a serious safety issue-as after all this ordeal to get home, the car would then not unlock to let me out.

The passenger door locks immediately after unlocking while in park, before you can grab the handle, preventing you from opening the door. The front seat passenger is trapped inside the vehicle. At speeds of 5 to 10 mph, the door locks automatically lock/unlock randomly making annoying loud chattering noise. This issue affects passenger safety and can be a hindrance in case of an emergency egress during unsafe situation.

The passenger door locks immediately after unlocking, before you can grab the handle, preventing you from opening the door. The front seat passenger is trapped inside the vehicle. This may seem like a minor problem but if the passenger needed to get out of the vehicle in case of accident, fire or water then they will have no chance and could suffer serious injury or death. From reading incident reports on this site, this seems to be very common problem and it should be fixed before someone dies.

In March of 2013 the passenger door started to lock itself immediately following me unlocking it. I thought it was a fuse problem. Then on May 26,2013 my child noticed that the back passenger door had begun to do the same thing. To fix the problem on both doors would be upwards of $440+. this seems to be a serious issue with all crvs and a real safety issue for those with young children.

Honda owner and driver for over 15 years. Unfortunately very unhappy with current Honda CRV where passenger door lock unlocked by itself a few weeks ago while the car was in a moving state with passenger seated in CRV along with seat belt on. Now my CRV passenger door will not lock. Lock clicks sounds around 10 miles and tries to lock then unlocks by itself. I am now an unhappy Honda owner.

I am experiencing a power door locking problem with the back seat / passenger side door lock. The power locking system keeps trying to lock the door while driving and it produces a constant clicking sound. I am unable to secure my door. From my research, it appears that I have a bad actuator and this is a common problem for Honda CR-V's.

The passenger door locks and unlocks randomly and it has been recurring more often recently. It now makes a terrible sound when it unlocks. I'm concerned about the safety of the passenger because there is no way for the passenger to unlock the door; the driver has to push the button to unlock and the passenger has only a split second to take advantage of the unlocked door before it relocks again. There would be no way for the passenger to get out of the car through the door in case of an emergency.
