Since I have gotten the CRV. I've had every 2 to 3 weeks had to buy new low beam headlights at the cost of $30 to $60. It has been almost a year and a half since I've had to go to court over it 9 times. Since then I've had to spend $160.89 court cost each time I had to go to court due to the lights going out and not lasting long each time I showed up to court. This problem no matter how old this car is (love the year and the durability of this model). i know its 2021 but there had to have been a recall at some point b4 if this has been going on since this modal come out. HONDA HELP US KEEP OUT OF COURT AND FIND A SOLUTION!!!! I even tried the cheap bulbs at the cost of $12.00 to $20.00.
Several times in the last year the low beam headlights have blown. We never had this issue before, are using the same light bulbs, taking precautions like wearing gloves when replacing the bulb, using bulb grease, etc. We've tried different bulbs and the same thing happened. There is no sign of overheating on the switch and coupler.
What could be causing this? It is reported multiple times on various websites and statements say Honda denies any issues with the 2006 Honda CRV.
BOUGHT THE 2006 HONDA CR-V USED IN MAY 2018. IT WAS RATED WELL ON CAR COMPLAINTS, BUT I DID NOTICE THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT HEADLIGHTS BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. SURE ENOUGH, I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT ABOUT EVERY 4-6 WEEKS SINCE THEN.
I HAVE TRIED VARIOUS H1 BULBS (PHILIPS, OSRAM, HONDA), MADE SURE NOT TO TOUCH THEM, REPLACED THE 'SOCKET' WITH AN OEM PART, HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED, NO MOISTURE NOTED, NO PRIOR ACCIDENTS. I READ WHERE IT'S BETTER TO REPLACE BOTH BULBS AT THE SAME TIME, BUT MECHANICS SAID IT WOULDN'T CAUSE A BURN OUT THAT QUICKLY.
I HAVE READ EVERY POST I CAN FIND FOR A SOLUTION WITHOUT ANY LUCK. I HAD A RETIRED HONDA MECHANIC (WHO WORKS ON MY HONDAS) LOOK AT IT-HE HAD NO IDEA. I THEN TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEIR SHOP LOOK AT IT-NO SOLUTION. THE ONLY GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT HASN'T BURNED OUT YET. THAT ONE IS MORE DIFFICULT TO ACCESS. IT'S A QUICK FIX WHEN REPLACING IT, BUT MY SON DRIVES THIS CAR FOR COLLEGE AND I CAN'T GET TO IT RIGHT AWAY EVERY TIME. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
JUST PURCHASED AN LED HEADLIGHT KIT, BUT FINDING ONE TO FIT THIS MODEL DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. HAVEN'T TRIED THE INSTALL YET BUT I DOUBT THE SPRING WILL FIT AROUND IT. THEY REQUIRE LESS POWER TO OPERATE. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A SOLUTION AS I READ IT COULD BE FROM INCONSISTENT OR POWER SURGES WHICH CAUSES THE BURN OUTS.
HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, EVEN IN A VEHICLE 13 YEARS OLD. THIS CR V HAS MANY MORE MILES LEFT ON IT.
Update from Jul 28, 2019: UPDATE: I READ WHERE SOMEONE SUGGESTED USING A LESS EXPENSIVE/STANDARD BULB. I TRIED AN OSRAM BULB (LESS THAN $10) AND SO FAR IT HAS BEEN GOOD FOR SEVEN MONTHS AND STILL GOING, A GREAT IMPROVEMENT.
Update from Feb 17, 2020: UPDATE: THE INEXPENSIVE 'BASIC' BULB LASTED ALMOST ONE YEAR TO THE DATE. NOT GREAT, BUT MUCH BETTER THAN IT WAS. THE PREVIOUS BULBS THAT FAILED WERE VERY DARK AND 'BLOWN'. THE BASIC BULB HARDLY HAD ANY DISCOLORATION WHEN IT FINALLY WENT OUT. IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, TRY THE BASIC BULBS!
Replacing bulbs on passenger side more then normal wear. Now the last time a replaced a bulb the lights are dim on low beam to the point that they look out cause they are so dim. Then they go out when turn on high beams. The driver side still works but it is affected by the passenger lights and will dim some. The bulbs work fine, the fuses are fine. I see a lot of similar complaints but not a lot of solutions.
Contact has had many issues with the headlamps in the past. They last on average about a year before having to be replaced. The car is not even driven in the summer. It used to be that the lamps would blow. I was told that this may because I touch the high intensity bulb and the oils can cause a blow out. But now the lamps are not blowing out but the lights still intermittently go out. They are hard to get to replace (especially on the driver side) because the battery is in the way. Hondas also have a white plastic attachment between the bulb and the socket that seems to be getting loose. Why they could not just make the bulb connect directly to the socket makes no sense. Last time trying to make a contact I blew the fuse. I see many other people with the same problem. I have never remotely had this much trouble with bulbs before. Honda is a great car in every other way but this is just very frustrating. It sucks when you keep getting stopped by the cops for a light outage.

2006 Honda CR-V low beam headlight consistently burns out once every 30-60 days. This is a safety issue that appears to be happening with other 2005-2006 CR-V owners. This problem needs to be addressed by a Honda recall.
Since first purchasing my car I have had frequent headlights go out. Each time I brought it to the dealer with a complaint I was told it is not uncommon for lights to go out this often. I then complained because each time one would go out the other would go out. This has been happening for 9 years. Recently both headlights went out at the same time on two different occasions in a 3 month period. I have only owned 2 cars in my life both Hondas. I am about to rethink this.
And.....The ABS and vsa lights illuminated on the instrument panel and won't go off. I did do the air bag replacement so that is not the issue. Shame on Honda for not taking care of this with so many headlight complaints on the 2006.
FOR THE LAST 2.5 YRS (APPROX) I HAVE HAD THE LOW BEAM BULBS FAIL/BURNOUT ON EITHER SIDE, NEVER BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
I HAVE REPLACED THEM WITH AFTER MARKET EQUALS FROM NAPA WITH NO SUCCESS.
I HAVE NOT GONE TO HONDA AND PURCHASED THE OEM BULB AND I WILL DO SO TO VERIFY THAT WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN I WON'T BE BUYING ANY MORE HONDA'S!! I CAN UNDERSTAND REQUIRING OEM PARTS FOR THE ENGINE, DRIVELINE AND BODY PARTS, BUT LIGHT BULBS?
I knew this was coming after researching carcomplaints.com. I bought the car at 68,800 miles, and my first headlight went out (only one side, the right low beam) after only 1,300 miles. The bulbs were cheap, but it's still a pain if it happens again.
Wasn't sure what to think at first but now I find out this has been an on going problem since 2002 at least. Both low beams go out at the same time. Honda needs to step up and fix this once and for all.
I have an electrical lemon! The date I picked was the FIRST headlight that went out. I have replaced 11 headlights on my car and Honda will not support my vehicle. That is only ONE of the many electrical things that go wrong and have gone wrong on my car.
