Seat belt around child using a child safety seat malfunctioned and could not be removed. Seat belt continued to tighten to the point of suffocation for child. It would not retract. All efforts to release seat belt caused it to further tighten. Due to fear that child would be asphyxiated, seat belt was cut. In effort to get it repaired, I have found that seat belts are not kept in stock and will have to be ordered.
The rear center passenger seat belt buckle blocks access to the rear passenger buckle. I asked the dealership and Honda America to change this design and the dealer's answer was, "unable to relocate buckles for proper operation." Basically the rear passenger has to ride without seat belt protection if there is a rear center passenger.
The occupant,10 years old, in the rear seat took the seat belt off to reach for something. Somehow the seat belt got twisted around the passenger's waist and continued to tighten after every movement. Seat belt had to be cut off because the passenger became upset and had difficulty breathing. Dealer will replace the seat belt only at consumer's expense.
