The contact owns a 2001 Honda CR-V, equipped with hercules touring tires, size 205-70-R15, dot number: Kabvb20H4910, serial number: Lm-H005-01.the contact stated that the front passenger tire would constantly lose air. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and found that the tire had a hole. The dealer replaced the front passenger tire. The VIN was not available.
Driving on the freeway the tire exploded (without running over anything). It blew off the bumper and the left-hand blinker. It also damaged the undercarriage of the car. Fortunately, no one was injured. The tire was on the rear of the driver side of the Honda CRV (2001).
Following Firestone tire just exploded when vehicle was in parked condition. It happened on Thursday, 06/26/08 in greenville, nc, 27834. Tire details: Dueler H/T P205/70/R15 dot: Emyt jmj1601 if you need the exploded tire please contact me. I contacted firestore but their is no response.
The contact stated the tires on vehicle were bad. The steering wheel was shaking badly. She took the car to dealer and the service representative told her it was the tires not the steering that there was a recall on. He replaced one tire, and told her to call NHTSA. He told her once it was settled he would replace the other three tires. She wanted to be compensated for the one she had to replace on 9-20-05. Also, the contact wanted to be compensated for the other three tires.
