I bought the car in early 2015. From new I detected a whining noise coming from the drivetrain. I repeatedly reported the increasing whining noise and honda eventually replaced the gearbox at 18000 km. I inspected the old stripped down gearbox and and found serious damage. The mainshaft bearing collapsed resulting in the gears making contact. The gear teeth started to chip away with metal in the gearbox.
After the gearbox replacement the whining noise is still present, but it is now present over a wider speed range.
I would like to know if there are other balllade users with the same whining noise. I am taking the car back to honda south africa and will keep you posted with my progress.
