Hello We own a 2018 Honda Accord with the above VIN, It is in the group that will need a new fuel pump due to a recall. Today I called Autonation in Fremont CA where I go for service, The tech confirmed that the car will be in the recall group, He was not certain as to the timeline, We are now retired and the Honda is the only car we own, Husband does not drive and has many medical appointments due to multiple medical problems, I would appreciate if the car could be in the first batch of scheduled cars that will get the new fuel pump. In 2022, We had another model car (VW) and we had a combustion engine fire and the car burned, This was a terrible thing, I hope that with this in mind, the new fuel pump will be sent in a timely way, Please contact me at [XXX], [XXX], BTW, this Honda has been great! [XXX], Owner INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Honda technician discovered connector to the fuel pump assembly was disconnected. His statement is: Technician found a softset connection on the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer did not produce vehicle malfunction message. It was confused with no input from the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer displayed many erroneous messages on the dashboard. It shut down the engine suddenly in traffic. If the vehicle was driven on the highway, a very serious accident perhaps resulting in death can occur when vehicle suddenly stops in high speed traffic. I believe this is manufacturing error with poor quality control. Honda needs to beef up the quality control, furthermore redesign the vehicle computer to send error messages to the driver, do a soft coast of the vehicle when connection to the fuel pump assembly is not engaged.

During the failure, the check engine and transmission warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
