Vehicle was towed to Goudy Honda in Alhambra. Technician found supposedly loose pin in connector to fuel pump. It was supposed to be fixed, reconnect to fuel pump. Car started. Drove home. Seven days later car stop again, could not start. Towed car back to Goudy Honda. After my complaint to Goudy service department, a more experienced mechanic took on the troubleshooting. He identified the problem to be the main wire harness that was intermittent. Solution was to replace the entire wire harness of the car. I believe this is a problem with this batch of wire harness Honda used to manufacture the lot of 2018 Honda Accord. There will be more failures to come. Honda corporation lost its quality control of its subcontractors. I was a long time owner of many Honda cars (6 in all) in my life. Honda quality is a big disappointment relative to the old days. I will never buy or recommend Honda to anyone.

I bought the Honda new in June of 2018. Honda has replaced the battery once I’ve replaced it 3 times. Since June of 2018 this car has went through 4 batteries! If it does start all system warnings start coming on brake peddle won’t stay depressed when trying to start it and kick back out. Ongoing issue with battery. Today I had to replace it AGAIN!

won't start won't start won't start won't start

This problem occurred at home - luckily. My girlfriend drives this car to work - if this had happened then or while we we on a day off cruising in the country; she/we could have been stranded at night on the side of the road... please don't make me explain the implications of this...

In an attempt to start the car, to go to work; these indications were displayed on the driver information interface (see pics added)... vehicle stability assist, brake hold sys. prob., anti- lock brake sys. prob., brake sys. performance reduction. In summary - the car would not start - starter would not engage to turn over engine.

We had car towed the following day to nearest Dealer for service (Tony Honda - Waipahu, HI). They were good about servicing the vehicle, said it was still under warranty and would be no charge, and installed new battery; but still... they attempted to put the cause of the failure (to start) on owners/operator error. According to the representative, never use the radio while only in accessory mode (without car running) - it drains the battery.

Hence, also why the displays were indicated and car wouldn't start, even though there was never any indication that the battery was weak or less than optimal. Even though we had not used the radio without the engine running for almost 2 weeks; and the car had been driven regularly since.

Sounds to me like the batteries Honda puts in it's vehicles are cheap and very limited performance - which is typical of companies trying to cut corners - or cause for customers to return to them for unprovoked service - like " job security " tactics. While picking up the car from service I saw an advertisement in service department for Honda Battery - 100 month service life !! (That's probably only if you ask for and pay way more money then one would expect to pay for a better battery.).

Car would not start after sitting for about two hours. Attempted to start the car and all the warning lights on the instrument cluster came on. At the same time the brake pedal rapidly pulsed (ABS?). Once I stopped trying to start the car a message appeared in the instrument display stating there was a problem with the electric parking brake. Tried repeatedly to reach “Honda Assist”, both by button in the overhead console and via cell phone. No luck. Called auto club and had car towed to nearest dealer. Finally got there just before service dept closing time. As soon as it arrived it began working again. They checked the battery and suggested we take it to the selling dealer the next day. NOT A HAPPY RETIRED CUSTOMER! Unreliable new car. No idea if and where this problem may repeat. Worthless roadside assistance. Thank heaven for auto club.
