The oil dip stick stinks like gasoline. There is a large carbon buildup in tailpipe and there's white smoke - obviously there's oil dilution and burning.
After five months and 6,000 miles of having my oil changed (by the dealership), I was having problems, so I took it back to the dealership to have it checked out. They suppose to have done a multi-point inspection checking the oil, etc. After exactly 1 month and less than 1,000 miles my car ran completely out of oil. I'm aware of a past class action lawsuit on older models and now the more current CR-V's. Is my car having this issue as well? Sure is looking like it. I have contacted the dealer & have an appointment to have an oil consumption test.
Once again had problems with the oil pressure light coming on and took to the dealership. They performed the oil change and told me to bring it in after 1,000 miles for a check. I did this and was told the oil level was good. I was then told to bring car in after another 1,000 miles for another check. When I asked the service advisor why this second check wasn't done when I initially had the problem he said they made a mistake and should have made me come in after another 1,000 miles for a second check. At this point I was told by the service advisor and the service manager both that the excessive oil consumption was a problem they had seen with several cars.
Unfortunately Honda corporate was not acknowledging that it was a problem due to the fact that the amount of oil used was BARELY WITHIN Honda's acceptable limits. The end result is that the service department recommended that I have my oil changed every 3000 miles instead of every 7500 miles. Additionally they also use a 5W30 oil together with a special additive instead of the synthetic oil. I was given a verbal that if the engine had future problems or had to be replaced that Honda would pay for the cost. At this point I'm very unhappy with my Honda experience to say the least.
My oil pressure light came on at times during a hard braking or fast acceleration. Service advisor at dealership drained and replaced oil and told me the oil level was a bit low. Told me to drive the car for 1,000 miles then bring it back in for a check. After 1,000 miles I brought it back in and they said oil level was fine and at the full mark.
