Back up camera started to fail in December. I thought it was due to cold weather. At first, the camera was having a hard time adjusting to different brightness levels. Then the picture quality started to get worse. Eventually, the screen would just be black. Occasionally it would have reception, but only a few seconds at a time. Nothing consistent. It would show the guidelines every once in a while, but the picture was black. This took about 2 months to go from annoying to broken. I researched the issue and found that it would not be covered under warranty. Honda wanted $250 for the part plus $125 labor.

I watched a few YouTube videos and decided I could handle the problem myself. I ordered an OEM part from eBay. I made sure it was a reputable seller and that the part would have the OEM sticker on it. The part cost me $128 including shipping. It took me about 45 minutes to remove the old camera unit and to replace it with the new one. It's a fairly simple process that requires basic automotive tools and a trim removal tool. I hope this one lasts for a while because I have read numerous complaints about the rearview camera going out on these Honda Accord vehicles is very common.
