Here in Florida we have been having heat a index over 100 degrees for days now. On the 4th of July, the index was 105 degrees. Our car was parked in a driveway and was not struck in any way, however, the rear windshield shattered. It exploded out, not in, so we know that it was not from being struck. We noticed it when we went to leave after fireworks and it was shattered. There was a lot of sonic booms from other neighbors' fireworks displays and we think that the vibration contributed to the problem. We suspect that there was a defect in the glass from the start. We have had the car less than 2 months at this point and it has under 3000 miles on it. It's a brand new car. I have lived in Florida for 35 years and have never experienced something like this, no matter the weather. We reported it to our local Honda dealer, and they said it's not covered, but if we wanted to bring it by, they would look at it. We had already cleaned up the glass because the car had to be driven home the night before, so there was nothing for them to see at this point. So we called our insurance and a glass guy is coming out to replace it today. I still think Honda needs to know about this. There may be a defect on the glass they used in these vehicles and it could be a recall issue. I thank God that our young son was not sitting in the back seat when this happened, it could have been lethal.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had this happen with this make and model?
