CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Car has bad battery sensors. When checking the battery status, it always says the battery is in good condition but it is actually dead. The car also consistently puts out a code "P219A." Dealership suggest that fuel injectors are going bad but the fuel injectors shouldn't go bad this early.

The vehicle associated with the subject VIN is a 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid. The high voltage battery has deteriorated substantially from the time the car was purchased by us as a new car. Specifically, (i) the high voltage battery no longer is capable of taking a full charge; and (ii) the high voltage battery does not hold a charge. Judging from (i) the car's dashboard gauge indicating level of charge; (ii) the dashboard gauge indicating miles of EV driving available; and (iii) actual miles that the car will drive in EV mode it is clear that the high voltage battery is more likely than not deteriorated to less than 50% compared to when it was new. Because the Plug-in Accord relies on the high voltage battery and can not function without the high voltage battery this level of deterioration presents a safety risk. Honda has issued a technical bulletin regarding the unexpected deterioration of these high voltage batteries. However, given the critical role these high voltage batteries play a recall seems in order.

My 2014 Honda Accord is experiencing excessive oil consumption, lack of engine power, engine stalling issues and overall unsafe drivability conditions. I took the vehicle to albany Honda on 5/4/2020 for them to diagnose and repair the issue but they could not duplicate the problems I was experiencing so they recommended an oil change and gasket valve cover replacement and charged me $262.08 for the service. I paid for the service and drove my vehicle off the lot with the severe issues still present. After 30 minutes of driving the vehicle the engine struggled to get up hills, began jerking, jolting violently and I was almost hit by oncoming traffic, I immediately called serve department back at Honda and told them about the incident and that I was bringing the car back and for them to do a thorough inspection and diagnosis of the vehicle as it had become a safety hazard and I didn't feel safe driving it. The next day the tells me that they 'test drove' the vehicle again and that the mechanic noticed a 'slight surge' but still could not pinpoint the issue. They then recommended a host of completely unrelated expensive repairs that would cost me $600 to $700; money that absolutely no one has to spare during this nationwide pandemic. Frustrated and disappointed I ended up taking my vehicle to another certified repair shop and they diagnosed the issue as P0300'as an engine misfire. The shop refused to work on the vehicle because they said it's a serious issue and that Honda should be responsible to repair my vehicle because they problem is a tsb bad piston rings that Honda needs to address.

On Friday, 11/15/19, my car notified me to check my fuel cap, so I checked it and closed it until the hearing the clicking sound. On saturday11/16/19, the engine light came on; I'd been smelling a strong smell of gas for about two weeks, and I thought it was coming from inside of my home, I had someone to go and check my home and found nothing wrong there. It wasn't until I was pumping gas into my car (turned off), and when it reached full, the handle clicked, and I could hear the gas pouring out onto the ground.

The Honda Accord 2014 is consuming tons of engine oil. Having issues with "engine oil burning" where evidence of evaporated engine oil is on the engine and is getting consumed rapidly. I have to refill a quart for every 1500 miles. This means 3 quarts added before the next oil change. This was discovered around Nov 2017 when the oil indicator light went off (~44,000 miles). After gasket replacements and two oil changes, I am still having issues and am at 50,400 miles. My maintenance has always been on time with regular oil changes at around 4500-5000 miles.

I was slowly making a left turn into and pulling into a front end in parking space with my foot on the brake, the car as already going straight into the parking space when the car suddenly accelerated, could not be slowed down or stopped by the brake, jumped the curb, and crashed into the building. Air bag did not deploy.

One morning while driving my daughter to daycare I noticed the smell of gasoline. I took my car to the mechanic and he diagnosed the issue as a faulty high pressure fuel line (the line from the gas tank to the front of the car). Upon receiving the replacement part the mechanic noted that the new fuel line has an additional insulator that prevents this exact issue. I've seen this reported elsewhere as "possible rodent damage" but this is clearly an issue Honda is aware of but not addressing via a recall.

My car has been to Honda twice for the same problem. The first incident was June 20th at 5pm at whole foods in phoenix. The car would turn over then die. The next morning I took it to Honda (it started and drove). I picked it up at 5pm, they stated they could find nothing wrong with the car. As I'm sitting in the car at Honda the car died and wouldn't start. The next day they told me it was the starter and replaced it and I picked up the car Friday June 23rd. The car was fine until Sunday around 3pm at safeway on phoenix where the car would start and then die. I took an uber home and scheduled a tow. When I got back to safeway the car started and I drove it home. Monday morning June 26 I took it to my local mechanic who diagnosed the fuel pump to be bad after two days. I towed it back to Honda on June 28th to have the fuel pump changed under warranty. They had to order the part and I did not get my car back until July 8th. On my way to work Tuesday July 11th the car died while on the freeway interchange between I10W and I17N and was forced to the side of the rode (there's barely a shoulder) and wait for a tow as the car would no start. I was towed to showcase Honda where the car is now. This last incident was more than just an inconvenience it was completely unsafe. This is the third time they have had the car and I have almost no confidence they are capable of figuring out what is wrong with this car (that's under warranty) and I honestly don't feel safe driving that car any longer.

Low miles 2 year old Honda Accord randomly went up in flames after being parked for 30mins at the doctors office. Looks to be a hp fuel pump design problem. This pump was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Thankfully it wasn't parked in my garage.

I was pulling in to a parking spot at 2 mph or less, and when I put my foot on the brake to stop, the engine surged and the car lurched forward out of my control, across the concrete barrier, over a walkway and into the wall of a restaurant, where it stalled. I had to restart the car to reverse it away from the crash. Fortunately no-one was hurt although there was considerable damage to the front of the car and the wall of the restaurant. This also happened in March 2014. I was pulling into a parking spot when the engine roared, the car lurched forward, and I crashed across a path and through a wooden fence. The damage then was $10K. The car was taken to the dealership's collision center, which reported only that "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found." There are at least 11 other reports of this problem from other people in this string, and it is clearly a very dangerous fault in the 2014 Honda Accord which needs to be investigated. There should be a recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed.

My 2014 Honda Accord coupe has 33,900+ miles and for the past year, I have had it in to fox Honda in grand rapids four times for the same problem. The problem is, that it stutters often when accelerating and twice, the engine has stalled out and had to be restarted. Fox motors plugs a computer into the car and they tell me that there are no reports of any problems and they can't fix what they can't detect. Two days ago, while driving to the va hospital in battle creek, I pulled out into traffic on anderson rd/street and the car stalled and a fedex semi had to drive onto shoulder and onto a yard to keep from hitting us and if he hadn't, we might have been killed. I took the car into fox motors and they are standing pat, refusing to help us. They did offer to buy the car back from me, but for a terrible price and I asked them what they would do with it and they dealership manager said that they would resell it with confidence and I refused to sell it to them if they were going to resell it with a service certification. How dare them do that! I don't know what to do next.

My car surges while driving occasionally and surges while stopped. I was sitting at a stop sign waiting on traffic to pass by and my car surged so hard that it pushed it out a couple inches. I took it to the dealership but they can not find anything wrong. Read other complaints here and my car isn't the only one doing this. I have a 3 year old and no longer feel safe in my car.

Similar to NHTSA complaints #10619205, #10607907, #10655300, #10630708, and #10628501. Driving my vehicle on interstate, going approximately 70 mph. The vehicle came to a large incline and began accelerating, and all of a sudden, the entire vehicle shuddered violently and lost all acceleration, and the malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking. It felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear, and it could not get back in gear. After over 10 minutes, I restarted the vehicle, and the light did not come back on. Although I could feel that pushing on the gas pedal did not feel the same, and it felt as if the vehicle was hesitating and struggling to switch gears up and accelerate. On 8/29/2014, again on the interstate, while again in cruise control (eco boost was not active), going approximately 70 mph, accelerating up a large incline, the vehicle again, all of a sudden, shuddered violently and lost all acceleration, and the malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking. It felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear, and it could not get back in gear. Approximately 70 miles later, without cruise control, going approximately 65 mph, accelerating up a large incline, the vehicle again, all of a sudden, shuddered violently and lost all acceleration. The malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking and the dashboard lit up with a message stating "fcw system failed." The fcw indicator light was lit on my dashboard, as well as the ldw light, the low tire pressure light, the electric power steering (eps) system indicator, and the vehicle stability assist (vsa) system indicator. It felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear and it could not get back in gear or it could not accelerate. After 3 service calls, Honda's response is only "cannot replicate, so there is no problem." There is obviously a serious problem.

My acceleration conditions/problems are identical to NHTSA id #10607907 & several others. Upon acceleration there is a severe hesitation to the point of almost stalling before it accelerates. At 15000 miles it appears to be getting worse. I was also told by a service rep this was computer controlled and not cable controlled as in the past. There definitely needs to be a fix to this as it is extremely dangerous pulling out in traffic.

From time to time when I press the accelerator, there is no immediate response. It may take another try to get the engine to respond. This mainly occurs when I need rapid acceleration from a stop to quickly get into traffic. I was told that the computer that controls the fly-by-wire accelerator takes time to coordinate with the computer that controls the cvt transmission. I have a safety concern with this.
