CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

It was awful because it was undriveable until fixed and I hadn't budgeted for that problem. The extended warranty I'd bought had just expired at the end of August. I bought the car from the dealer as "certified" but the engine had two significant problems before 70K miles, with good upkeep. It did get very good gas mileage, though - over 40 mpg on highway.

Happened at least 6 times on a cold start only. Told by the dealership they would have to keep the car till the morning just to hear it but the problem is intermittent and probably wouldn't happen the one off time they keep it. Currently recording cold morning starts to try and catch the noise and hopefully get it resolved.

When I press the ignition start button, sometimes there is a rattling/grinding sound as if the engine was already on, sometimes engine doesn't start at all. After multiple starts, it starts for now. I went to Goudy Honda in Alhambra CA and they said the issue was with the starter and it will cost me $ 850. Starter failure on a car just over a 3 years old is unheard of and of course ridiculous. Always drove Honda's and on the verge of buying a new car for my wife but if this is what future Honda's are going to be like, I will take my business elsewhere for sure.

Engine makes a rattling noise for about 1 second on cold start. Also noticed it was low on oil before last oil change Sunday 7/9/17. After cold start, subsequent starts do not cause rattling noise unless car sits for 15-20 minutes. I believe the rattling is indicative of oil starvation in the head/valves. This really scares me, and my wife drives a LOT. The car has over 100,000 miles on it with regular oil changes at the service indication. I've always used synthetic oil, 0W20 as indicated. The car still runs perfectly and gets good mileage. Not sure why the upper engine would be oil-starved, but I wish I knew what to do to fix it. Is there a valve in the head that should prevent oil starvation that has failed? I don't know. Some oil filters have valves that prevent oil from leaking back into the oil pan. I would really like someone knowledgeable at Honda to tell me something besides "that's normal".
