CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

About a week ago I called aaa for service for my 2014 Accord. It would not start. The technician checked the battery and found it to be fine. He then tried to start the car and it started right up. We drove home and had no problems for several days until last Saturday when my wife returned to the car with groceries and uncounted the same problem. My wife is 87 and with the high heat and perishables it was not a pleasant experience. Again, after calling my son for aid, the car finally started and we planned a Monday visit to your enterprise. Since my wife had a doctors appointment at noon, we prayed that the car would start for the trip to the doctor's and then for the drive to the dealership.it started for the first trip and then after about 10 minutes for the second trip to. A car that may or may not start can place people in danger and should be viewed as a safety issue.

Car will fail to start. This is a safety hazard. If the car stalls and won't restart depending on location, eg highway, it could be a major safety hazard. My 2014 Honda Accord has intermittent starter problems. Sometimes it starts fine, other times the lights all go on but nothing else happens. When it won't start turning the car off and trying again usually works. I can also get it to start by leaving the key turned to the start position and pumping the clutch. This indicates the ignition switch is ok and the clutch start sensor switch is ok. I have called the dealer and they say they have replaced a bunch of starters but there is no recall. They want $800 to replace the starter. A web search indicates the starter is a common problem for 2014 Accord. When is the recall" I need to get this fixed. How do I get re-reimbursed if I have this fixed before the recall"

Starter is failing from time to time. When using push-button start, sometimes the starter makes a strong grinding noise and does not start the vehicle. It will sometimes do this for one, two, or three attempts in a row. Eventually, the starter will work. I'm afraid the starter will eventually fail completely. Car has less than 75,000 miles.

Starter grinds or spins at startup. The problem is intermittent at first but gets worse over time untill the car won't start at all leaving you stranded. Honda released a service bulletin 16-002 that covers the problem and the fix for it.

This just out of warranty vehicle has had some odd problems, some that made the car unsafe to drive, 1) ac compressor clutch melted onto compressor. Fixed under warranty. 2) timing belt tensioner leaked fluid, fixed under warranty. 3) dealer diagnosed ABS module fault. An intermittent failure. Car was out of warranty. This problem caused every other electronic safety system in the car to intermittently fail. Opened a case with american Honda who denied any responsibility for the problem. These units fail rarely and should last the life of the vehicle. The part (36,000 mile 3-yr warranty) was even back ordered from the manufacturer. For example, only 1 unit was replaced in atlanta, ga since 2014, they wanted almost $1,600 to fix the issue. Took it to another specialist who fixed it for under $600 by finding a used part. I think Honda should have been more accommodating and concerned. This problem caused the ABS, ldw, fcw, and traction control systems to eventually fail. Literally, I was lucky that I didn't get in a bad accident as the ABS was actually functioning (the day a car turned left in front of me) and saved me from skidding into and T-boning another car. But all these odd issues just leaves me wondering... when's the next weird problem going to pop up?

Please note that there was a recall for the 2013 Honda Accord for similar issues. The vehicle will at times not start and only make a grinding noise when depressing the start button, this still occurring after changing the battery and starter twice in addition to the fob battery. I speculate that the braking system may contribute to this issue as sometimes the car will start after pumping/pressing the brake pedal a few times or just holding it after initial attempt to start the car (very frustrating). New issue involves the car starting while only pressing the brake and moving the gear shifter (dangerous as a kid can start the vehicle without pressing the start button). Have reported the issue to Honda (local/California main) and spoke to a Honda representative yesterday (5/7/2019) to no avail. Please issues a recall for these cars having this issue before someone gets hurt, or worse, looses their lives. This has been going on for years and is almost on a daily basis, last even was today.

The month after our vehicle warranty expired, everything went wrong. I had trouble turning my car on for the time when I was at work (about an 8 mile drive from home).. I drove to work with no issues and about 3 hours later of it being stationary, it wouldn't turn on. I tried about 10 times. I had to leave my car there overnight and call someone to pick me up. I was lucky that I realized it wasn't working during lunch. I usually got off from work at 6pm when there was no one left in the office and if I didn't have a phone on me, I would have been alone there in an unsafe neighborhood..the mechanic told me it was the starter and seeing how it was a 3 year car with not enough miles to warrant starter problems, that it was defective. We took it to Honda and they said they would not cover the charges. We paid for a new starter out of pocket and it solved the problem. Now the power window button on the driver's side for the front passenger window does not work. One day it just stopped working. I typically drive with my mom in the passenger seat and she often gets anxiety attacks. The wind makes her feel better and when an episode while driving happened, I wasn't able to put her window down to help her. The left headlight on the car is also broken. I didn't realize it right away since the right one works. In a sense, it's terrible that something in the car was broken and that there was no car signal to notify me. We realize that cars require upkeep, but for a 5 year old car to have this many mechanical issues is ridiculous. I realize that these

Hello' whenever I cold start my Honda Accord, there's a short grinding noise at the start, in which disappears immediately after a second or two of the grinding. This has happened every single cold start since I bought the car 3 months ago. After doing some research, it appears there was a similar issue for earlier years of this car.

Since the expiration of the vehicle's warranty, the following issues have occurred. Both door locking actuators have failed and require replacement. This failure requires the driver to manually lock and unlock the vehicle. The air conditioning blower motor has failed several times and will eventually need to be replaced, causing no air to flow through the vents in some of the hottest and coldest days of the year. Most noticeably the starter and starter solenoid has failed on several occasions, preventing the engine from starting, and will also need to be replaced.

I have a 2014 Honda Accord ex and it's burning 2 to 3 quarts of oil every 2 weeks. It's aggravating it's burning so much oil and there are thousands of reviews about this matter with the Accord model and Honda is not doing anything about it. I took the car to the dealership for this matter and I have extended warranty and they were said that they will charge me $129.99 to look at the car when I have the extended warranty. I feel so disappointed in Honda because they are leaving their loyal customers in the air when they know what is going on and don't do anything to help... I drive a little in the city but mainly on highway. How many people have to complain in order for Honda to do something about this serious problem... help help help help help help help help help help
