CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred intermittently. The power steering, tire pressure and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on another occasion when the vehicle restarted on the second attempt, several warning lights were blinking randomly then disappeared. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the failure was a faulty sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic and was diagnosed and no failure code was found and was informed the vehicle was fine. The contact mentioned that the dealer replaced the brake pads and provided an oil change. The vehicle was not yet taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

My 2014 Honda Accord does not start intermittently. Started when my car had 40,000 miles on it. I thought it to be a battery problem. Had my battery tested at advance auto parts and my battery was good. I still replace it. Next day, same problem. No start until the 8th attempt. The loud grinding that come with the fail attempt is frustrating and embarrassing. Today after 11 failed attempts to start my car it finally started on the 12th time. I'm so over Honda and the crazy part is I own a 2007 Honda Accord, a 2010 Honda Accord and this 2014 Honda Accord. The two older years gives me 0 problems while the newer one with less miles give me sooo much trouble. Honda stand up and be the reputable dealer that caused me to buy Honda in the first place. Oh and next the brkes are nothing like the older models. U feel a skip and you slide. These brakes are by far the worst

Day 1: car had 2 instances of no start accompanied by strange whirring noise under the hood. The first time took 5 tries to successful start, the second time took 2 tries to successful start.all dash lights/radio had power. Day 2: car started up first try no problems, but later in the day when trying to use vehicle again, I encountered the same issue as day 1, but this time without successful start upon exhausted number of tries. Battery voltage tested and monitored while trying to start indicated it wasn't a battery issue. Vehicle towed to purchasing dealership.... told I need a new starter...500$+ bill. Expect it to be out of shop tomorrow. Bms recalled and replaced in 2017 by previous owner, my VIN not included in starter recall. Bought with 76,000 miles on July 11th 2020, starter went out exactly 4 months later November 11th 2020 with 81,000 miles. 2014 Accord LX huge bummer.. I'm a die hard Honda fan and recommender but this has caused lots of inconveniences. I hope Honda makes this right.

The vehicle tends to not start. Turning the ignition only causes a clicking sound, however the car will not turn over (start). I purchased a new starter but the vehicle still does not start, I read online that chances are it will not fix the problem. I found many people online with the same issue that I'm having.

The same problem as the other 250 entries. Engine won't start at the press of the push button. I have 75,000 miles on the car. It is garaged and well taken care of. It doesn't matter the time of day, temperature or if it's the first or last drive of the day. Frustrating to say the least. I have to repeatedly push the button, try shifting into neutral, try getting out and back in. It is entirely random, sometimes taking ten minutes or more to finally start. All indications are normal on the dash, it just will not engage the starter. No click, nothing.

Been having electrical problems since we got the car. Year 3 we needed new starter, new back up camera. This year driver's window would work only work some of the time. In June when I started all the dashboard lights came on with ABS system power failure warning. It would go on and off as I drove. Then the car started jerking as it was driven and finally stayed on and was on everytime we started. Needs a new modulator-control unit which is $1,400 and has been backordered since mid June. Haven't been able to drive car, and I can't renew registration because it won't pass va safety inspection.

I have a 2014 Honda Accord 2.4L ex-L with only 40,000 miles. About two months ago, I started experiencing an intermittent starting problem with the push start button. When I depress the brake pedal and push the start button, all of my 'normal' dash lights come on as if I put it in start mode and I hear one click, but the engine does not turn over. While this does not happen all the time, it happens more than it starts on the first try. When this happens, it can take between 2-6 tries before it finally starts. I replaced the battery 6 months ago, but the issue came recently and is still ongoing. I had the alternator and starter both tested by numerous places and both are testing good.

Same issue as case #11339806 except my 2014 Accord's push-button starter failed at less than 72,000 miles. This is a known issue with this model year, tsb mc-10100621-6340. Cost of repair over $900. There should be a recall.

The car randomly stopped starting. 95% of the times it works fine however sometime it won't start which is security risk to get stranded in case I am not closer to towing location. Took the car to dealership and they replaced it under warranty. They said its a known issue. I saw people having to replace the starter multiple times and Honda still has not recalled for that issue.

Starter makes grinding noise and vehicle won't start. Approx 78,000 miles on vehicle. Started having issues at @54,000 miles. Push button would click, panel lights flashed, but car wouldn't start. Replaced battery and that solved clicking issue. Honda states starter needs replaced but won't cover as it's out of warranty. Should not fail on a 2014 Accord V6 with only 78450 miles. Attempting to start when at work or home. There is a known tsb at Honda, mc-10100621-9340

We have an intermittent problem with the car starting. We found an online thread on the subject with workaround tricks. Sometimes putting the car in neutral and starting it from there works, but not consistently. What works most often is turn key one notch, wait 3 seconds, turn again and wait until lights go away, then again and then it starts. What is this issue" is there a recall that can fix this issue"

I have a 2014 Honda Accord V-6 exl. The car intermittently will not start. The problem appears to be becoming more frequent. Battery has been replaced. It takes several attempts after pressing the starter button. For lack of a better term it sounds like and electrical whine. This occurs sometimes at the first start-up or while out and about running errands.has been ongoing for approximately 8 months. This car was purchased new in July 2014. I am the only qwnerof this vehicle. It has 5500 miles and is kept in the garage.

All 2013-2016 Honda Accord with V6 engines and automatic transmission have a design failure that causes the starter and torque converter to grind intermittently until they fail. This design failure creates an extremely dangerous condition and can lead to the owner stranded. The cost to repair this problem is over $4,000. My failure started within the first 3 years of service with less then 50,000 miles. I've had to pay for 3 new starters and the problem still occurs. An online search show this problem occurs at a very high rate on these vehicles. I believe the problem is the engine and transmission won't align and even after the torque converter is replaced the problem will still occur because of the clearance failure due a manufacturer design issue.

2014 Accord suddenly had issues starting. Push button start produces no crank, no attempt to start. All dashboard lights come on, radio, headlights work. Next try started it properly. Issue then happens more frequently and it takes more and more attempts to start. Brand new battery. No error code / check motor light. All you can do is wait and keep trying to start it.. high school aged daughter can no longer drive the car as we cannot have her stranded somewhere when the car does not start. For all of us in the family, the car immediately became unreliable and a risk since I have strong concerns about the safety of the vehicle when driving as well since everything with the operation relies on the electrical system to function properly.. at the Honda dealership, I reproduced the issue. Did not start on 3 of 5 attempts. Service tech diagnosis was "possible bad starter". no way a starter should go bad on a 2014 that is well cared for and not used extensively. The solution offered was for me to pay $900 for something that "might" fix the issue. They claimed to not be aware of the astronomically high number of 2014 Accord with this issue, despite many, many others who have reported this issue. Google auto-complete suggests "starter issues" as soon as you enter "2014 Honda Accord".in the search box because it's one of the most common entries. The 2013 Accord got recalled for faulty starter. The 2014 Accord already had a recall for battery housing. There clearly is a defective electrical issue with this vehicle. The extent of which and the risks associated with it are unknown. It needs to be addressed permanently by Honda to get the vehicle in the proper state where it can be started whenever and wherever the operator is (day or night) and where the electrical system is proven safe for all in the vehicle.
