CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.
For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.
Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

I purchased Honda Accord 2014 as used and have just 42K miles on it now. It started giving starting troubles since past 2 weeks. Last week it didn't start at all. Finally it started once & took the car to dealership & I was told that starter has gone bad. Costed $800 to replace it.
When I try to start my car, most of the time it won't start. It just clicks. I have to try multiple times and eventually it will start. This is a common problem that Honda should fix. And it is a safety issue because, if it is dark out and your car won't start, then you are a target for a criminal. I am losing my faith in the reliability of Honda's.
Starter button has gone bad at 40K miles. Battery is new, key fob battery is new, still car won't start at least 3-4 times a week. After several tries, it finally starts. Very dangerous to be stranded somewhere.
On 24 August 2018, several lights came on in the dash, to include the the fcw, ldw, brakes and power steering. I took the vehicle to Honda and was told that my vsa modulator may need to be replaced. They reset it and told me that if the lights come back on, I would definitely need to get it replaced. Needless to say, the lights came back on 2 hours later. I called the dealership and was told they had to order the part, which was $1400 +tax and labor. This is a serious safety issue that needs to be investigated.
When you press the start button, it just clicks. After a few tries, it would start. The problem is a faulty starter (not the button, key, or battery). After only 60K miles? Honda charged $900 to replace it. Called Honda America and they refused to reimburse me. I am disappointed that Honda does not stand by its products any more. They used to be dependable cars.

Starting from last month, the car sometimes cannot be started when I turned the key to start the car. There was no sound. The engine could not be started. In the beginning, it happened about 1-2 times per week. And it could be started after 4-5 trials. Now it happens almost every day. Sometimes I tried 10 min but it still does not work. The machinist examined the vehicle and said that the battery was good. The Honda dealer said it needed to replace the starter with the cost about $900. It seems a known problem since there are lots of complaints about this issue.
My 2014 Honda Accord has 42,000 miles. Starting a couple months ago, the car would not start randomly. (battery, alternator tested good. No issues with them) I drive a manual transmission, if the car stalls in traffic or on a hill I wouldn't be able to start the car back up. This is extremely dangerous! I have been stranded places because the car won't start. One time it was 100 degrees outside and I couldn't leave to go home from work because it wouldn't start. Since the issue started a couple months ago, it is no much worse. I have to turn the key 15 to 20 times and it finally will start. Sometimes it wont. I have read that many people have issues with these 9th gen Honda Accord starters failing. Mine failed at 42,000 miles" what modern car's starter dies that early"! someone else's starter died at 24,000 miles. Many posts online about the issue. Took the car to the dealership, they wanted $800 to fix the issue. My warranty expired at 36,000 miles. So dangerous, expensive, and frustrating! this problem needs to be fixed by Honda.
When I go to start the car, pushing the break and pressing the start button, I hear clicking and the engine will not start. I have to try multiple times before the care will finally start.
My Accord is 4 years old and has about 34,000 miles on it. My starter just began failing (3 months after warranty expired). I was having intermittent starting failure for approximately 2 weeks. I would turn the key and the engine wouldn't do anything, most times I would immediately try again and it would turn on fine. One time it took about 5 tries to get it to turn. After speaking with my mechanic and paying for a replacement starter, I believe that this is a known issue from Honda and they should issue a recall.
'takata recall' recently I purchased a 2014 Honda Accord from a dealership which made this my first car ever. Everything was going right up until 3 months of me having the car. My brakes went out without me knowing because someone from that dealership broke off the little chip that makes the squeaking noise. I took it to the dealer to explain to them what had happen showing them the evidence and they made it seem like I was lying while driving on hwy 16 I ended up having a blowout on the passenger side of my car and messed my front fender up. Two(2)months after that in March I purchased a brand new battery because the battery that came with the car had died out. Prior to that I never knew the alternative was the reason for the battery to constantly die out. On March 15 2018 I went back to the dealership to let them know and even inspect my car when one of the manager came to talk to me he said there was absolutely nothing they could do because my warranty was only 30days. Now not knowing anything about a warranty how am I suppose to know or knew all of these problems were going to happen. When I asked about a manufacturer warranty I was told I didn't have one and they were not going to help me with my car. May 10 2018 my friend found out she had a recall on her starter and went and got another one. Now when I locked up the Honda recalls I seen there were two: One for the battery and the second was for the starter. I contacted the dealership again leaving voicemails after voicemail until I couldn't take it anymore and just went up there. As I walk in I asked to speak to the person who was in a hire position. As we are talking he ask me how long I had the car, how many miles, and the question of all when is your warranty expired. After he found out the warranty was expired there was nothing he could do for me. I pay 400 and haven't had the car for a year yet.
Tried to start my 2014 Honda Accord that has had well maintained maintenance on it and it won't start. Everything works but the car won't start. This is the 4th time this week it has happened and then the car just starts. Now it's not starting. I did my research and realize this is an issue with the 2014 Accord. Honda needs to be responsible and fix this immediately. Car is too new with only 55K miles, I own a 2001 Toyota sienna and no issues like this just routine maintenance. I put trust into Honda and this is where it gets me.
My car has 31000 miles on when I saw all 4 rims with the paint bubbling up, and a whole bunch of white spots on the outside and inside of the rim.second now I am experiencing problems starting the vehicle, I eventually get the car to turn over but it is happening more and more frequently, it has happened twice in a week
The steering wheel froze up on me at start up. I turned it off and it worked correctly until the next time. After the third time I read about similar problems others were having and knew that it could freeze up while I was driving so I took it to my dealer March 19 2018. Honda doesn't want to talk to me about it. I will fix it and hope for a recall. It will cost me at least $700.
Car would not start but would just click and electricity would turn on. Problem persisted and got worse and worse. Would require 2, then 3 up to 6 tries to start the engine. Replaced battery and problem still persisted and got worse. Went to mechanic and was told starter was faulty, had to pay for a full starter replacement at less than 45,000 miles.
I've had this for for 2 years now and all of a sudden there are times my car won't start on the 1st key turn. All the lights come on and the battery is still running good. I've had the battery tested 3 times. The vehicle is stationary. I put my key in turn it lights come on it clicks I turn it back turn and the same thing happens. Usually on the the third try it the engine comes on powerful. This happens at least 3 times a week. I read on other forums and a lot of ownwers of the same car are having the exact same issue. They took theirs to the dealer and they had to get their starter replaced. We are wondering how a car this new can already have starter issues? this should not happen when cars are under 100K in miles. Honda needs to have a recall on their poorly made starter. The owners should not have to replace the starter already.
Vehicle will not start at times and there is a clicking sound. In the beginning, it happened maybe twice a month and it would start after a few seconds. It has gotten worse and it's an everyday occurrence, several times a day. One day it would not start at all. I left it for approximately an hour and when I later tried to start it, it started with no hesitation. It is not the battery, because I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem. Everything else in the car works even when the car won't start.
I only have 29,600+ miles on my 2014 Honda Accord with trouble starting car engine. Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 times before engine starts. I brought to my Honda dealer and they told me that I am looking at a $700+ bill to replace the defective starter. I see that other owners have the same problem!
Problem: Seems to be with ignition. While car is stationary, the vehicle fails at the initial turn of the key for ignition. Failure of ignition may happen 2-3 times before car will run. Not only has this now happened more than half a dozen times, but we are also seeing larger number of tries before the vehicle will start. (example: First several occurrences the car would start after 1-2 tries. Now it is more common to take 2-3 tries before ignition.) this could cause any of us to be stranded unexpectantly...especially concerned if this happens on a trip away from home, &/or to wife or daughter alone. We heard other years of same Honda Accord is having this problem. So we were surprised not to see our make and model listed for recall.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. While the contact was attempting to start the vehicle, it made a grinding sound and failed to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 54,000. The VIN was not available.
