CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Honda 2014 Accord problem started with 'check Charging System' warning flashed on speedometer. I took to my local mechanic for repair. Mechanic found battery sensor module was bad and was replaced for cost of $180. Next day I had had same issue when I started car and took it back to mechanic. Mechanic found sensor he replaced was bad and put in a another new sensor. After a couple of couple weeks, problem again with check charging system warning flashing on speedometer. I went back to mechanic and he later found something caused charging system fuse to blow and recommended I take car to a Honda dealer have diagnostics. I have not done that yet. In meantime, I found interior dome lights of car not working. Replaced fuse for interior lights to work and also found "check charging system' warning stopped flashing on speedometer. However, after I took car for short drive interior lights went out and 'check charging system' flashing on speedometer again, I will take car to Honda dealer in near future to see if they can pinpoint problem.

I won a Honda accord sport. I absolutely loved the car in the beginning. It was quick, sporty, and looked really nice. Right after the car hit 100k on the mileage, it didn't seem to run the same anymore. Got up one morning to start my car before work. And it acted as if it didn't want to start. Starter issue? Lol, not the slightest. Took the car to Honda where they had to run a $80 diagnostic to find the issue. They said my alternator was bad and it had sucked the voltage from my battery. So they both needed to be replaced. My father has worked on vehicles for years and he said we could change it and not pay labor to Honda since they would charge out the !

10 min into changing the alternator we realize we need a star Allen wrench. Go to the parts store for that . Then we get back. Had released the tensioner to bring the pulley down to get to the alternator. Then realize we need another special tool. Parts store closed by this time. Waited until the next day. Finally get the tools we need. Get the $487 alternator changed. Says start it up! Nothing. I check the battery. Battery changed $200. Runs great for a week. Ran like it never had before. Had more power in the pedal. The next week. I start it in the morning to go to work. Acts funny when starting again!

Take it to a local mechanic where he proceeds to tell me the battery and alternator are bad. I tell him my father and I changed it personally and I know nothing is wrong with it. Plugs up the voltage machine again while I'm standing there. Wiggles a wire on the alternator and the voltage spiked to where it should be. I've changed the battery and alternator. For the whole time the problem has been a small flimsy wire that goes from the main electrical underneath the block into the alternator. Called Honda to see how much the piece would be. They said they needed to run another diagnostic!

My dad spliced the wire, reconnected a new plastic end and plugged it back into the alternator. During the time it was running weird. The headlights would dim and brighten. My ac would blow inconsistently. My driver seat where you move it back and forward was really slow . The motor would bog down. Obviously when it wasn't getting a full current . And ran like s**! Had a miss and would rev on its own. Was really disappointed with all the hassle just for it to be a flimsy loose wire.
