CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

I noticed today that paint was peeling from the upper groove between the roof and back window panel of the car. I-??m very concerned that overtime this will lead to corrosion that may possibly affect the integrity and safety of the back window leading to potential injury. Per my research, a -??Service Bulletin-?? was realeased by Honda on Aug 29, 2019 extending the warranty for 2014-2015 Honda Accords to resolve this same issue BUT, unfortunately it was limited to Fanthom Blue Pearls or Obsidian Blue Pearl. In addition, this is not an isolated case as many Honda owners have voiced the same complaint in forums and different websites.

I just happened to be outside today, and noticed and discovered body rust on the rocker panels (both sides) near the rear doors (below doors and in front of rear tires). This would have had to begun a while ago, for me to be just now noticing visible rust and rust-bubbles today. I have also discovered this is a habitual rust issue specific to Honda and the Accord going back several generations, and apparently also habitual front-end frame and/or sub-frame rust issues. For the times I have had it at a Honda dealership service department, and their supposedly "vehicle inspection" to have been included with each service, no person at a Honda dealership service department ever mentioned any rust whatsoever. I purchased my Accord new in 2014, and has approximately 47,000 miles on it today (which of course, factory warranty has expired). It would seem obvious to me that Honda themselves had to always be aware of this type of issue. As I also discovered today via internet searching, that rust has been a Honda Accord issue for over 20 years. Their dealerships ought to be recommending, suggesting, or offering rust protection/rust preventative be applied when buying a new Honda (for a cost to the consumer of course). "Paint Protection" that come with new Hondas, isn't going to take care of nor prevent rust issues. I can't say I've ever been happy nor impressed with my Accord, and all the times I've had it at a dealership service department and mentioned the door wind/door window noise (and finding a "service bulletin" today specific to this on the NHTSA website, but no one at any Honda dealership service department (at least not in the Central Ohio area) has any concern nor interest in investigating anything at all mentioned by a consumer; they only want to change the oil, replace tires, replace filters, and replace wiper blade inserts.

Vehicle was stationary: The actuator for the driver door lock/unlock stop working intermittently.I took the car to the dealer and the replaced it under the warranty, I mentioned to them this is a brand new car and already have issues with this!!! well I have the same situation but this time is in the rear door on the driver side so I took to the dealer this time they told me we can not replaced it since the warranty is due you have to pay for the repair, I mentioned to them seems that something is wrong with the door lock mechanism due to this is the 2nd time the car is having the same issue but this time on different door. Apparently the locking mechanism has a flaws design or manufacturing defect that Honda does not wants to accept.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard an abnormal squeaking noise coming from the vehicle. When turning the steering wheel, there was an abnormal chiming noise. The contact also noticed bubbles on the windshield, which eventually cracked, and the exterior paint was bubbling. Additionally, the suspension and engine made abnormal cracking and hissing noises. The vehicle was taken to rick case Honda (157000 rick case Honda way, davie, fl 33331) where it was diagnosed that the squeaking noise was due to the transmission needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. All the other issues had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the transmission issue and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Body: The tension bar does not open the car trunk lid all the way which more often drops down and hit the person's head or face who is putting stuffs in the trunk assuming it is fully open all the way. I did got hit twice by the corner and edge of the trunk lid on the forehead and left temple. The latter caused bruise and pain that took me a week to recover. Should change weak tension bar to strong gas tube operation. Engine: The car vibrates and rattles upon putting on reverse gear even after at least a minute warmup in the morning. The dealer said it is normal for this type of car? this is very embarrassing for a newer car. I never see this in a Toyota cars that I owned: Sienna, avalon... seats: Driver seat is not well designed and causing awkward and uncomfortable and fatigue position while driving. There is insufficiency of support for lumbar are ( the current one is too soft and sitting back so there is virtually no support at all). Again Toyota cars seem not having this kind of problem. Also, the driver window is not tall enough that even a 5'6" person can bang his head to the top of the window when getting up and out of the drive seat. It should be 2" taller to avoid this problem. They should put cushion to the top edge and safety grip handle at the minimum. Driving condition: The car seems to wander when running on freeway at normal speed.

We have had our2014hondaaccordfor just one year. All of our family members have been hit in the head and back by the trunk door. The trunk does not stay open on even a modest grade, but does not fall down for several seconds, close down suddenly with a light wind not allowing people to lean into the trunk before it hits them. Injury to death could happen anytimes from the trunk lid lock. I have owned 10 cars and have never had one where the trunk lid will not remain up.

Trunk lid falls suddenly even on slight grades and sometimes on level areas. Dealer has checked this and says the torsion bars are working according to specs. Sooner or later this will cause an injury. Wife and I have been hit on head by this lid numerous times already.

I was pulling in to a parking spot at 2 mph or less, and when I put my foot on the brake to stop, the engine surged and the car lurched forward out of my control, across the concrete barrier, over a walkway and into the wall of a restaurant, where it stalled. I had to restart the car to reverse it away from the crash. Fortunately no-one was hurt although there was considerable damage to the front of the car and the wall of the restaurant. This also happened in March 2014. I was pulling into a parking spot when the engine roared, the car lurched forward, and I crashed across a path and through a wooden fence. The damage then was $10K. The car was taken to the dealership's collision center, which reported only that "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found." There are at least 11 other reports of this problem from other people in this string, and it is clearly a very dangerous fault in the 2014 Honda Accord which needs to be investigated. There should be a recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed.

One cold morning of about 30-32 degrees, the back left passenger door would not open from the outside (or inside) when the handle was pulled. It was as if child lock was on. From that point on, no matter what temp, the door won't open properly in case of an emergency. The only way to get it to open is to push the door in then pulling the handle. If on the inside, you have to pull the door in by the hole you grasp the door the pull the handle. It is not safe. It happened at 37,000 miles. Car was bought new and is on lease still with one more year till I can finance it. I have no kids and have guest the sit in the back periodically. I can see no fault on my end for the door to be defective. Dealership refuses to wave the $180 fee to look at it.

Trunk lid has no resistance and has fallen on us numerous times causing facial/head injuries. Problem is exacerbated when parked in our driveway which has a slight elevation. If lid is not held manually, gravity and weight of the trunk lid free-falls. It has been returned to two Honda dealerships for supposed "repair" or we are told "that is the way it's supposed to be" -- an authoritative statement from american Honda customer service today (case number 04244825)." In my 54 years of car ownership, including many Honda, I have never experienced this problem.

I'm reaching out to you concerning my 2014 Honda Accord sport VIN #: [xxx]. I recently had a minor accident and the rear bumper was scratched. I took the vehicle to the shop to have the rear bumper painted. The repair shop called me and they told me that the vehicle was missing the absorber on the rear bumper, that is the foam part that fits between the outside bumper and the metal plate. The paint shop told me that sometimes new vehicles arrive at the dealer with bumpers & side mirrors detach and they get assemble at the dealer or its possible that a batch of vehicle were shipped missing the absorber in the bumper area. If you touch and press your finger in the rear bumper you feel an air space gap and the bumper does not feel hard. I was stopped - was hit head on by an out of control driver whose car spun around, hit my car on driver's side and pushed me into a stone wall damaging the car on the passenger's side also. The airbag on my car (driver's side) deployed and I got second degree burns on my wrists and arms from the airbag and am now being treated at a burn center for second degree burns. I had gloves on and the burn went through the gloves putting holes in them. This was a terrible crash causing over $11,000 damage to my car and I have no idea what my medical bills are. I feel this airbag had to be defective. It also concerns me that my car was hit head on and on both sides and only the airbag on the driver's side deployed. All the airbags in this car must be defective or certainly not working properly.

Trunk opens for no apparent reason. This usually happens two or three times a month when the car is parked. Sometimes it happens in the middle of the night when both keys are 50 feet or so from the car and no one is near them. Obviously not a safety issue but it does make it impossible to secure anything of value in the trunk. Honda refuses to admit there is a problem because it won't happen while they are standing there looking at the car. Some of my friends who own the same type of Honda are having this same exact problem.
