CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Steering wheel will pull left and want to keep going left. Have to really pull steering wheel right to keep car straight. This is a known problem on 2013 Honda accords. This almost caused an accident on the road. I am bringing it to Honda but it's a known problem and should be recalled. I know the 2012 models had the issue and they were recalled.

The steering wheel of Honda Accord ex 2013 suddenly malfunctioned. It becomes heavy and stiff. It can not come back to the center automatically after left turn. We brought the car to our local Honda dealer. They diagnosed the car and told us the car "NEEDS EPS GEAR BOX ONLY ". They said "NOT RELATED TO THE WARRANTY EXTENSION $3905 PLUS TAX AND SHOP SUPPLIES". There is not warning when the engine of the car is turned on. My car had less than 68K miles when this happened on 07/13/2024.

The contact's mother owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to pull over to the side of the road. The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not covered under an unknown recall campaign. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

The VSA Modulator on the 2013 Ex-L manual transmission has failed. It illuminated 7 lights. Steering light, abs, FCW, BRAKE, ABS, LDW, Traction Control. The abs modulator internally shuts off all systems within this car. The car is not able to pass inspection because of safety issues. After looking for a used part, i realized there were many complaints on this particular make and model. I am scared to drive the car with these issues, and with 1000s of cars having the same issue with the same part, i would think Honda would correct the issue without spending $1,000-??s. There were no symptoms prior. It seems that the internal soldering on the VSA modulator has been coming apart, shutting down the system.

Steering gets very stiff sometimes and you have to yank it to control the vehicle's direction. This has been happening over the past year and is now happening more frequently. The warning light comes on sometimes. The problem has not yet been reported to the dealer but from reports on the web this seems to be a common problem in 2013 and 2014 models.

Re: complaint #11590390, after loosing my steering I had to take my car to the dealer I found no recalls on this website but much to my surprise there is. Honda replaced the steering gearbox. Total parts and labor came to $3056.69. The recall campaign number for the ESP gearbox replacement is 15-056-5Z200, good info for the future for you and anyone else having this issue. Not bad for a eleven year old car, not to mention how happy I was not having to pay for the repair. Thank you Honda.

This morning I started my car and everything was normal. I started backing out of my driveway and my steering wheel would not turn in any direction. The steering light is on in the dashboard and the steering wheel is locked. I went back into my driveway to turn the vehicle off and back on, but nothing changed. I-??m lucky this didn-??t happen while driving on the road.

driving home from manhattan i hit bump and the steering light came on and i could not steer my car. Realizing what happened (i first thought the car stalled) i was able to put the car in neutral, shut it off, and restart it hoping the problem would go away which thankfully it did. Needless to say i was very lucky not to be hit by another car as this was a very dangerous situation. I have read about others having this problem and wonder why Honda has not addressed this very dangerous problem YET. i am afraid to drive my car in fear of this happening again and maybe not being so lucky next time.

I lost control of vehicle while driving because the electrical steering motor stopped working. I-??ve had the electric starter already replaced twice with Honda parts and it-??s still not working. There-??s something wrong with the steering. I already placed a complaint and I have not heard back from Honda or NHTSA. I sent letters to NYS Senators Schumer and Hillabrand and I have not yet heard back from them yet either. I sent letters emails to Congress and the Senate transportation committees. I-??ve found testimonials for the same issues online even with videos. I just read a complaint that was nearly identical the experience I had except it happened in 2020. The power steering stops and starts same for the cars starter and windows. I took the car to Honda dealer to repair it on March [XXX], 2024. I now have a car repair bill for $8500 at Curry Honda in Yorktown Heights. They said I needed to replace entire exhaust system $3000 because they couldn-??t get to the steering column without taking down the fragile exhaust system. Basically, I had no choice. In order to start the repairs they wanted a $4,500 down payment which I paid. They-??ve now had the car for 37 days. They described the steering column and motor system as being completely corroded to the point where the steering column was going to snap/break. What they said at the Honda dealer was the Honda steering motor and wiring was completely corroded which is not common. A few weeks later they told me that the knuckle/ball bearings were rusted out and that all the shock absorbers needed replaced as they were also rusted out even the screws according to them. They said these should all be replaced or I would fail inspection. The bill went from $3000 to $4700 to $6200 to $7900 to now $8500 includes tax. They-??re still working on the vehicle and they-??ve had it since March [XXX], it-??s now May [XXX], 2024. I-??ve asked them for the parts that they-??re removing and they said they-??ll save the parts. Do you want them" Recall" INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM O

The car will steer on its on its will fully turn all the way to left by its self and then is quite harder to steer back to the right. You will have to fight with the wheel to keep the car going straight. I have look around quit a bit and have found multiple complaints about this exact issue.

While driving on [XXX] in South Carolina (we are from Ohio and were on a vacation to celebrate [XXX]) we started our turn into the left lane to pass a vehicle when the steering wheel suddenly sharply turned on its own and shot us towards the medium and oncoming traffic. As my husband was able regain control and hard steer to the right before we hit oncoming traffic we were, as you can imagine, terrified. We were able to steer the car to a safe pull off and tried to recover our nerves and start the process of figuring out what was happening and what we were going to do as we were so far away from home. I Googled the problem we were having and learned that we were not alone in having this steering system problem. I was extremely disappointed to learn that this was a known problem but there had been no recall. We had no indications nor any information that this could occur. We located a Honda dealership approximately 22 miles from our location and decided we would carefully try to get to that location. At the dealership we were told it was a known problem but they would have to locate parts, which they did in Atlanta, and have them overnighted if possible. They were very helpful, drove us to a hotel which we paid for, as we waited for parts to arrive. While fixing the electronic steering system they located another issue with another electronic box that had something to do with the starter which needed to be replaced as well. Each of these problems I came to understand were known to Honda, and I believe NHTSA, but no recalls were issued. I'm sorry but I believe that the potential to be killed and to kill others due to the failure of the electronic steering system while driving a vehicle that is known to have these problems is a recall and should be repaired and replaced at Honda's expense not those that invested in what they considered a safe vehicle. Our bill for these repairs was $3,826. 41. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When driving, the car's steering will jerk sporadically. It is also incredibly hard to turn the wheel. The inspection by the Honda Dealer has proven that it is the power steering rack is faulty. Something has gone wrong and it is making the car dangerous to drive. My safety is at risk because if the car jerks suddenly, I will crash either into a structure or another vehicle likely resulting in death at high speeds. There is no warning light at all. This seems related to the formal safety probe open in May 2021 for 2013-2015 Honda Accords. I have been doing research and a LOT of people are posting about it online.
