CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Problem with windows/sunroof: Car parked in okc parking lot for 11+ hours and when went to leave, all four windows were down and sunroof was open. Car remained locked. This is security issue since anyone can access vehicle and even open trunk (nothing would be safe).

The starter on the 2013 Honda Accord ex-L sedan began to fail at less than 50K miles. It began with the symptoms of not starting with the first press on the push button ignition, which I was told by Honda may just be a fault of my own for not operating the push button system correctly. This turned out to be incorrect as once my warranty expired the car started to require more and most "pushes" to start. Eventually I was left stranded and the car would on start at all irrespective of the number of times I tried. While this was not a safety issue where I was stranded, in other situations this could have easily resulted in injury, or in the worst case, the loss of life.

***happens when vehicle is parked and turned off*** this car has a "feature" that is not disclosed to customers upon purchase which can lead to a dangerous condition for property and the interior of the vehicle. If the key fob is placed in a pocket with keys (as everyone does), there is a combination of inadvertent button presses (specifically unlock / unlock / unlock) which causes all of the windows and the sunroof to open. This has lead to my car being soaked by having all the windows open during a rainstorm while I was inside my office (with the vehicle parked right outside - the key fob works from quite a far distance). It has also lead to my belongings being compromised due to all of the windows opening when I parked in the city and was sitting in a building with the keys in my pocket, among other times. When I returned to the selling dealer I was told that they were unaware of this feature and I should read the manual. It is not detailed in the manual and there is no way to disable it.

I am the first owner of my 2013 Honda Accord sport and 2 months ago I developed an issue with the starter. I've replaced the starter twice and tonight got stranded and had to call a tow truck to bring it home. I've gone to the Honda dealer and, of course, there's an issue with the starter, but it will cost $1000+ to fix! this issue must be investigated and recalled as soon as possible. Honda is fully aware of all of these issues and if you get the right technician at the dealership - they'll tell you Honda is fully aware, but couldn't care less! 2 starters later - I'm still in the same position!

I have owned my 2013 Honda Accord since 2013. I have had numerous problems with this model. The most being with the car starting. I have replaced the battery and the starter and am still having problems starting the car. I went online and noticed that this is a huge problem with this model. Th car makes a clicking noise as if it is going to start then it doesn't start. All the lights come on and it then begins to start after a couple of minutes have gone by. Pushing the button does not get the car to start. You have to push it numerous times to get it to start. This problem has cost me upwards of $700 to $1,000 to replace every time there is an issue. This should be a manufacturers issue as a starter should not be worn out in 3 years. Please take a look at this problem as I am sure it will be a lawsuit coming soon based on all the other complaints I have read with this issue. I am taking my car back to the dealer today to have this issue looked at again.

I went to crank my car, which was perfectly fine yesferday, and it wont turn over and there are several lights on and clicking and blinking. I thought it might be the battery and tried to jump it off and nothing changed. A symbol that looks like a steering wheel and exclamation point, low tire light, brake light, and skid control symbols were all on.

I parked my car in our home garage after driving 15-20 miles. An hour later, when I tried to take the car out, at ignition it just refused to start. I got many dashboard chattering indicators on but no engine cranking. Tried couple of times but same results. Checked head lights and found them bright and ok indicating no possible battery issue. Then I jump started from our other car parked next to it. It started almost immediately. But the dashboard indicators remained 'on'. I used vehicle setting menu and selected factory default reset. But the indicators remained 'on'. I took the car for a short drive. As soon as I drove some 15-20 feet, the indicators went off. I drove for some time and tried to stop the engine and restart it couple times without any problems. In my case, I was fortunate to have this happened at home garage and not middle of the road. But when I tried to research online about this problem, I found many such similar complaints and some of them were indicating possible 'bad' starter issue which required $800-1000 for the replacement and repairs. My car is around 18 months old with clean records of regular maintenance. The car has logged around 32,400 miles and maintained with care. As a concerned owner, after reading those online complaints and reports, I thought of sharing my issue here and record it too. I see there are enough similar complaints to arrive at there could be a faulty component (may be starter or something else, I am not an expert) which might need attention and possible recall repairs by the manufacturer

A few months ago, my 2013 Honda Accord sport with 42K miles became hesitant to start. A turn of the key and I just heard clicks, after 3-5 tries it usually started on up. The problem progressed, yet I continued to "make due", I started putting the car in neutral to start it, and even had to be jumped off a few times. Eventually in early February my battery went bad, and I purchased a new one. On March 12,2016 my car refused to start. I had to have it towed to the dealership I purchased the car from - in 2013 with 18 miles on it...on 3/14/16 I was just informed that my starter is bad. To replace the starter it will be $850....not including the diagnostic fee of $110 and the towing cost of $80, all because this doesn't fall under the 3/36K warranty that is standard with Honda. Seems like a ridiculous price to pay, especially after seeing the other complaint on this site of other Honda owners with the same issue. I personally feel this should be a recall on Honda part. 2013 was the first year they made the Honda Accord sport edition ( I was told at the dealership), obviously something went awry at the factory. When I called the dealership to explain my problem, I gave the year, make, and model of my car. The technician that answered the phone replied with "oh, yes MA'am, I just spoke with you 10 minutes agoi?" it was the first time I had called. That tells me there are other 2013 Honda Accord sport owners experiencing the same problem. Make it right Honda!!

Intermittent starting problems. Depressing brake pedal harder sometimes solves problem, sometimes not. Changed batteries in key fobs. Replaced car battery. Still intermittent starting problems. Can hear "click", dash lights-up but engine does not engage. Repeated attempts until engine starts. Has been happening between 48K and now 50K miles.

It so far has happened to me twice that I need to jump-start the car. There probably has some electrical leakage issues or something related to it. The first time it was more than a year ago that when I came earlier to a doctor appointment waiting for the clinic to open, I turned off the car and left the cd player on. But it only played for about half an hour or so it turned off automatically due to the battery power has already been depleted and the card could not start at all that I had to call aaa after the doctor appointment to jump-start for me. I thought at that time it was due to the cd player took too much power so I did not complain about it. But the second time it was a few weeks ago on Sunday, which give me the concerns that there must be some electrical leakage on my car. After parking for the church meeting and turned off the car, both my wife and I decided to open the window a little bit to let the air flows in the hot weather since we parked under a covered parking and would not worry about possible rainfall. So before we open the doors, we opened both front windows a very little bit and left for the meetings. Then about 3.5-4 hours later when it was time to go home, we found out the car would not start, and we had to ask for help to jump-start it again. This time it gave a definite guess that there must be some electrical leakage in the car. I also complained in early June of this year about the steering wheel lock issue. I received a mail from Honda to fix it, but when I call the dealers, none of them even offer loaner cars for such recall and manufacture failure repairs. Honda is bad for things like this. I don't know whether I should purchase Honda again in the future. I never complained once for my Toyota for years. Even they schedule for manufacture recalls, which I never encounter myself, I did not have to worry about the loaner car.

Since purchased new in 2013, this car hesitates after stopping and attempting to accelerate with the front wheels turned sharply to the left for a left turn. Since delivery date of vehicle from dealer my vehicles navigation and stereo have not worked. I brought it in the service dept could not figure out what was wrong, they replaced the navigation and stereo and the problem still to this day exist. When this radio is on sometimes it freezes and the nav unit states the radio is off and other times it just stays on, volume increases on its own, cannot use touch screen, cannot change stations and then the lights on the dash go on and off and car shuts off. I have gone online and see that there are many other people reporting the same problem and when I take it to the dealer if it goes back to working the service dept tells me that they cannot diagnose the problem to keep driving it and bring it back. On Sept 21 I brought it in to dealer and it shut off at dealer 3X's making them jump start it and I have once again received my car with no assurance that it works. They said the battery and computer test come back ok but they changed the battery in hopes that that will resolve the issue. It is 9/24/15 and same thing happened this morning. But since after 3 hours of trying to turn it back on it did and I cant go back to being without a car because I have a 2 year old daughter, have to work and know the dealer will say its working again I have to just pray it will not happen while on the road
